A new version of the Cocoa emacs-app package is available. The release notes indicate a number of major fixes and improvements. The distribution still requires the use of the compile script, so the update entails version and checksum changes.

I bumped the version and checksums and updated dependencies. I removed the depencies added from #10478 since they're completely unused by this particular build. My dependency checking did reveal three new dependencies on coreutils, pkgconfig, and texinfo, so they have all been added to the Portfile.

It might be a good idea to note the known issues more prominently. From nextstep/KNOWN-ISSUES.txt:

  • Non-Latin characters not always rendered correctly.
  • Borders for modeline buttons not fully drawn.
  • Terminal mode doesn't work on OS X.
  • Exec-dump not working on GNUstep (so slow startup).
  • Ctrl-g not picked up in all situations [try experimental option in 'compile'].
