Description
Trying to build Auctex 11.83 as development variant results in the following error:
Error: Error executing devel: can't set "depends_lib": invalid depspec: Error: Status 1 encountered during processing.

Issue reported here is a bug in MacPorts sources. See #11868 which I just created to track the issue.

After playing around a bit I managed to solve the problem. Diff file (approved by Antoine Reilles) included.
