You need to make sure that you have the latest version of MacPorts installed. Run "sudo port selfupdate" and try again. Assigning to the bug to the port maintainer, but it's likely an issue with using an outdated version of MacPorts.

Agreed. Issue is caused by an outdated version of MacPorts. Solution is to update MacPorts.
