teTeX-texmf-3.0po.tar.gz fetch failure

Reported by: jmm@… Owned by: gwright@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.6.0
Keywords: Cc:
Port: teTeX

Description

I'm actually trying to install gnuplot, but the fetch hangs when trying to fetch teTeX, one of the dependencies. Trying to install teTeX itself produces exactly the same effect; output shown below. I'm running macports 1.6 on OSX 10.4.11 on a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac.

$ sudo port -v install tetex

Allen Rawls sent me a workaround that did the trick. In the extract from his email below, "URL" is ftp://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/unix/teTeX/current/distrib/tetex-texmf-3.0po.tar.gz. (moved up here for clarity).

  • cd /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/teTeX
  • remove any *.TMP files, as those are the download attemps if it kept any
  • sudo wget URL. If you don't have wget, you can also use curl: sudo curl URL > tetex-texmf-3.0po.tar.gz
  • once the file is downloaded, run sudo port -v install tetex again. It took about 10 minutes for me, but it installed, skipping the fetch since it found the files in the proper directory.
  • then I went back and ran sudo port -v install gnuplot and it picked up where it left off, after tetex.

Hope this helps, at least until they can figure out the problem.

It worked just as described, many thanks for the workaround.

Assigning to maintainer. This should no longer be a problem for gnuplot, since it now uses texlive instead (and in fact it should only ever have been a problem when using the tutorial variant).

Also, FWIW, I don't see any problems when fetching the teTeX distfiles.
