Description
After installing MacPort, I noticed that the Port program could not be found. After reading the installation documentation, I manually ran the Postflight application from the installation package. Voila! Everything worked properly, including Port Authority. Not sure why this happened, but I thought I would let you know.

Postflight script in the 1.6.0 installer is buggy, but it's already fixed in our up-coming 1.6.0 release. This has already been reported so I'm closing this ticket as duplicate, but thanks for the information though.
