#14045 closed submission (fixed)

New port of FreeRadius, version 2.0.1

Reported by: info@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…

Description

The freeradius-server (2.0.1) portfile being submitted has been tested under Tiger running Intel and ppc architectures. (As I do not have a box running Leopard at this time, I've not had a chance to double-check the port against that OS.)

Built upon the 1.1.7 port, this is a port of the newest version of the software (now renamed freeradius-server), adds additional variants, and adds new dependencies where appropriate. The new server also adds the rlm_opendirectory module, which is still considered experimental, for hooking into apple's Open Directory.

Thanks for your considering this submission.

Why is the server name changed to freeradius-server? And could you submit the changes as a patch?

Replying to markd@macports.org:

Greetings, The freeradius project folks renamed it, as you'll see upon visiting their ftp site (this is not so evident on the project website). Since it looked like the name of the port needed to be the file name prefix up to the version.subversion.patchlevel, I opted for that name. I also assumed since this is a new major version, a new port may be more appropriate. But this is my first work on a port, so lead the way if I'm off track. Cheers!

You can set distname in order to fetch a tarball named something other than ${name}-${version}. See the guide.

Usually, new versions of ports simply replace old versions unless there is a specific reason to keep the old version around. For example, there might be dependent ports that don't work with the new version.

Ok, thanks for the input. Attached is a new version of the port which is set up to replace version 1.1.7 with 2.0.2 (the newest stable version).
