texlive_base @2007_2 post-activate fails

Running MP trunk on Leopard, XCode 3.1. I'm not sure which of the log files in the directory mentioned in the error message would be useful:

This is a summary of all `failed' messages and warnings:
`xetex -ini  -jobname=xetex -progname=xetex -etex xetex.ini' failed
`xetex -ini  -jobname=xelatex -progname=xelatex -etex xelatex.ini' failed
