Description
sudo port -d install gimp-app > gimp-app.log 2>&1 yields the attached result.

This is not a gimp-app issue. Did you do what was suggested in the output? Namely:
sudo ln -s libXrandr.2.dylib /usr/X11/lib/libXrandr.2.0.0.dylib

Thanks. I ran the command and tried to install again. Attached is a 7-Zip compressed archive with the log file (the uncompressed file was over 10MB) of the installation process as it went after the symbolic link had been created.

unable to execute -DNDEBUG: No such file or directory error: command '-DNDEBUG' failed with exit status 1
This is a common problem with python modules on Leopard. See http://trac.macports.org/wiki/LeopardProblems

Yep, that did it. Gimp.app is now installed, although it requires X11 to be started before executing -- but I guess that's fair enough and has nothing to do with MacPorts either way. Thanks!
