GTK libraries not compiling

Description
It seems that the GTK libraries won't compile, returning an error from a conflict with a previously defined variable. I tried to install blender, and it seemed to compile sucessfully, but then the program wouldn't launch in X11, although it did produce an application launcher file with icon in my macports folder in my applications. I can't install the gimp, ardour, mplayer, and various other programs without the gtk libraries apparently. Is there a conflict with X11?
