gtk2 2.14.4 - any gtk application crashes in gtk_init()

Description

I installed gtk2 2.14.4 on OS X 10.4.11, with Python 2.5.2 installed. GTK applications build fine, but running one causes a "Bus Error", even gtk-demo. Attached is a crash log from gtk-demo.

I noted the similarity to #17503, but I think this is a different issue since my crash happens at a different place (which is consistent across any GTK program I try to run.)

Oh yeah, I'm running Apple's X11 1.1.3 (XFree86 4.4.0).

Deleting gtk2 and installing the "+quartz" variant avoids this problem.

Does it still crash with 2.14.5?

Yes, the problem persists and the crash occurs at the same place.

However, the problem does not occur using MacPorts 1.7 and gtk2 2.14.7.

Reporters says it does not crash anymore with mp-1.7 and gtk2-2.14.7.
