finally deleted libiconf and did a new install. this step works now.

but

---> Configuring gcc42 ---> Building gcc42

will hang for hours now...:-(

That's to be expected. It can take a very long time to build gcc42.

ok, i will leave this on over night (latest mavbook pro with 6 gigs of ram). read some news that gcc42 will fail because it´s kind of outdated.

will report tomorrow morning

thanks for your help so far!

It takes about an hour to build gcc42 on my MacBook Pro. You could also try the newer gcc43 or gcc44 ports.

I will see tomorrow. Any hints howw to change the gcc version requested by pdftk?

Thanks again

Ah, right, you were trying to build pdftk. Unfortunately pdftk cannot use a gcc newer than 4.2.x; see #15420.
