xmgrace not working

hi all,

I installed grace from macports, and when i execute it from xterm, it appears the following warning:

Warning: Widget must be a VendorShell.
Xlib:  extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: attempt to add non-widget child "dsm" to parent "xmgrace" which supports only widgets

I am new in macports do i am lost. can anyone help me?

Duplicate of #18181. In summary, try the following:

sudo port selfupdate
sudo port upgrade outdated

Then try running it again.

I want to thank the preceeding comment. I tried and it worked!, but I get this msg from the command line: Xlib: extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0". I am afraid that this msg will provoke some malfunctioning of grace Is that a good or bad msg?

is a warning which can be safely ignored.
