I'm building XFCE 4.6. In package xfce4-panel, I got the following: 

--->  Configuring xfce4-panel

Error: Target org.macports.configure returned: configure failure: shell command " cd "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_xfce_xfce4-panel/work/xfce4-panel-4.6.0" && ./configure --prefix=/opt/local --enable-startup-notification --disable-visibility " returned error 1

Turns out xfce4-panel requires libwnck, but the package doesn't depend on it. Doing a manual port install libwnck allows the installation of xfce4-panel to succeed.
