Mac OS X 10.5.6 libiconv, openssl errors when trying to build PHP 5.2.9

I'm having this issue trying to build PHP 5.2.9 on Mac OS X 10.5.6:

I have had no success with either

Though

'--with-openssl=shared,/opt/local' \

seems to work versus none below:
