Carl, could you try updating to Xcode 3.1.4?

If that doesn't do it, Andrew, perhaps you could look into this (since you did the last few updates of this port)? It builds fine for me with the universal variant x86_64/i386 and Xcode 3.2.1 on Snow Leopard.
