see discussion on vim_mac. apparently there's a fix on the google code issue? looks like it's still open though so please star as desired.

Upstream added an "experimental renderer" option which also works on 10.6. Please try that now with snapshot 52.

Apparently the problem can be solved by compiling against the 10.5 SDK. I will look into the issue.
