Description

I recently upgraded to binutils @2.20_0 I then tried to install atlas and got the error:

Which variants were used for the install of the newest version of binutils?

Replying to snc@…:

Which variants were used for the install of the newest version of binutils?

I can't check for sure since I completely removed that version, but it should have been installed with the default variants. If I remember correctly binutils was updated during a "port upgrade outdated", and so it must have been the variant which was installed with that command.

The assembler in the recent version of binutils is not fully OSX compatible. It can't produce Mach-O's.

This is a known limitation and discussed in their mailing lists:

I have opened a new ticket for binutils here: #22681

I am closing this ticket as a duplicate.
