I cleaned up the following ports (with port uninstall whatever @vsn) and then re-installed.

gnome-doc-utils
docbook-xml
docbook-xml-4.3
docbook-dsssl
docbook-xsl

Then I went about my way, installing gtk-doc and finally got a full inkscape. yay.
