octave-odepkg 0.6.7 - post-activate failure

I have recently installed Octave 3.2.3 onto my Mac (MacBook Pro, OSX 10.5.8) using Macports (Version: 1.8.2) successfully and am trying to install the octave-odepkg 0.6.7 package using Macports. While octave has been installed successfully I get error messages when I try to install octave-odepkg:

I installed octave with the command: "port install octave" and octave-odepkg with the command "port install octave-odepkg". I am using an non-admin install of Macports. The full log output from the octave-odepkg, obtained with the -d flag is attached.
