Running Inkscape with gtk2 @2.20.1 produces a lot of these console messages:
(inkscape-bin:97675): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_misc_set_alignment: assertion `GTK_IS_MISC (misc)' failed
Applying the patch mentioned in comment #11 of upstream Gnome/GTK+ Bug 616851 - Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_misc_set_alignment: assertion `GTK_IS_MISC (misc)' failed solves the issue.

Just a comment to confirm that the attached patch fixed the inkscape (+no_x11 +quartz) crash referenced in the ticket description.

Can be closed - current version (gtk2 @2.22.0) no longer needs this patch.
