Console repeatedly shows.

Did you load dbus-system.plist as root?

I don't remember, but I doubt it. I followed instructions from http://mac.kde.org/?id=build and it said to not run it as root. I'm not sure what happened, but this problem went away. I'm now running dbus @1.2.24_1 on 10.6.6

OK, assuming not running as root was the problem then. You run dbus-session as each normal user, but dbus-system must run as root (as specified in port notes dbus).
