autoreconf failure xorg-libXp

Numerous ports that built successfully for me a year ago (7/2009) fail with various errors 7/2010. I wish to build texlive and xfig. Here is the specific failure for xfig, encountered when attempting to build xorg-libXp.

I'm running mac os 10.5.8 on a macbook pro, hardware version 5,5, using macports installed fresh 7/4/2010.

$ sudo port install xorg-libXp
--->  Computing dependencies for xorg-libXp
--->  Configuring xorg-libXp
Error: Target org.macports.configure returned: autoreconf failure: shell command failed

autoconf 2.66 had several problems. We downgraded autoconf to 2.65. Have you used "sudo port sync" and "sudo port upgrade autoconf" to get this change?

That worked. xorg-libXp built fine, then xfig also. I'll try some others that were giving me problems. Thanks so much!
