Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))

I'm a bit confused on how to get my install to resume. My laptop was shut during installation (sudo port install ufraw) and it did not resume.. I interrupted the hung command and now I can not get it to either reinstall or install. clean doesn't help...

Please use WikiFormatting when pasting shell output so it's legible.

The output you showed for "sudo port -d clean ufraw" shows that MacPorts successfully cleaned it; no problem there.

Was the output you showed for "sudo port -d upgrade outdated" complete? Did it really end at "Starting logging for iso-codes" or did you cut it off there? If you cut it off there, let it complete; it looks correct so far. If port did hang there, then let's clean iso-codes and try upgrading just that ("sudo port clean iso-codes", "sudo port -d upgrade iso-codes").

I had pasted everything from my terminal window into the message (sorry about the lack of formating)

. I did as suggested and it just hangs there too. (see below)

You might have lingering Macports processes. Have you rebooted since the fateful sleep incident?

comment:5 Changed 14 years ago by amy.a.gooch@…

Should have thought of the reboot.. after that was done, I"m in a "possible infinite loop". the error list is really, really long... how do upload a file to this ticket or do I just dump it all in here?

the end of the error is: {{{ DEBUG: too many nested evaluations (infinite loop?)

while executing

"lshift args"

("catch" arm line 2) invoked from within

"switch $arg {

catch {

set elem [lshift args]

if {[llength $args] == 0
[llength $elem] > 4} {

..."

(procedure "try" line 10) invoked from within

"try {

seek $fd $offset gets $fd line set name [lindex $line 0] set len..."

(procedure "mportlookup" line 23) invoked from within

"mportlookup $dep_portname" Error: Internal error: port lookup failed: too many nested evaluations (infinite loop?) Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. To report a bug, see <http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets>

}}}

I had tried to pick off a few of them and installed things like python26, gimp2,texlive, but the later two also resulted in the same "Possible Infinite loop".

I've also tried clean and uninstall

You need to run selfupdate. This was fixed yesterday.

sudo port selfupdate
