Can't the bot which changes the owner all the time pick that up from the port itself? I assumed it did this time (as I usually CC the maintainer, and then the bot flies in and removes the CC)

There are no bots associated with this project. Only living, breathing people who are volunteering their time for the most part.

Mmm OK, I always thought there was a bot/automated script doing the translation from portname to bug owner.
Why isn't there?
