netatalk Build Failure, doesn't ask for required password to rebuild

Reported by: parchitetto@… Owned by: ralph@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.9.1
Keywords: Cc:
Port: netatalk

Description

I tried to build Netatalk using 1.9.1. I did not enter the ROOT password, but my regular password and promptly walked away, oblivious to the warning. The build failed.

I am now trying to continue the install, and already have most dependancies built, however I am not prompted for the necessary root password before MacPorts starts the build. I was asked the first time, and not again.

I currently have no way to build Netatalk.

I've quite Terminal, restarted the computer, cleaned all cache (system and user), and tried "uninstall" command but nothing has worked. Here is the error:

Error: Target org.macports.install returned: MacPorts requires root privileges for this action Error: The following dependencies failed to build: db47 libiconv gperf openssl zlib perl5 perl5.8

Sounds like you should get familiar with sudo vs su etc first. I can install Netatalk without a problem here.

This ticket may be closed. Thank you.

I was unable to build db47 and had made an incorrect assessment as to why.

I subsequently found a help file which I used to clean db47 and was then able to build db47 and finish installation of Netatalk.
