Installing Kile on Mac OS X 10.6

Description (last modified by mf2k (Frank Schima))

Hi Everyone,

I've been trying relentlessly to install Kile on my mac for the past week (literally). As I know very little about macports/kile I don't know what to make of all of the errors I have received when trying to install kile using macports. What I do is this:

sudo port install kile-devel (the latest version, updated 3 months ago) then enter my password, then macports computes the dependencies, then I get this list of error messages:

dyn-river-232-245:~ mar2194$ sudo port install kile-devel
sudo: /var/db/sudo writable by non-owner (040777), should be mode 0700

WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss
or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your
typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.

To proceed, enter your password, or type Ctrl-C to abort.

Sorry, try again.

For the sudo problem, the first thing you should do is run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions on your startup volume.

For kile-devel, you need to either remove the file it mentions or force the activation of dbus:

sudo port -f activate dbus
sudo port install kile

Since Trac is for Macports bugs, it would be better to follow up on the Macport-Users mailing list if you still have problems.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
