The rpm port was assuming that "perl" was of the same version as "/opt/local/bin/perl5.8" (like it was before).

When I do perl -v I get a report that it is v5.8.8, which is what was installed when I entered the sudo port install rpm command.

Sorry. New to macports and wasn't able to find any help in the forums.

OK. Sorry the version of Perl in /opt/local/bin is 5.8.9. I seem to have 5.8.8 installed via Fink.

Is there a way to modify the port (at my end) or to roll back the MacPort version of perl to 5.8.8 to allow the install.

Actually the sudo port install rpm installed 5.8.8 then updated it to 5.8.9 as it was installing rpm.

Sorry about the confused info.

Thank you.
