#29949 closed enhancement (fixed)

mplayer, mplayer-devel: add dvdnav support

Reported by: rogerdpack@… Owned by: acho@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.9.2
Keywords: Cc: jeremyhu (Jeremy Huddleston Sequoia)
Port: mplayer, mplayer-devel

Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))

Hello. I think dvdnav isn't being picked up properly by the mplayer-devel Portfile (nor by the mplayer Portfile).

$ mplayer dvdnav://

Playing dvdnav://.
No stream found to handle url dvdnav://

(even with a DVD in there). I think the --disable-dvdnav needs to be removed. That would probably fix up mplayer-devel.

In reality, I think the [mplayer] port probably needs to "depend" on libdvdnav, and also not disable it, but this ticket doesn't treat to that.

Thanks! -roger-

mplayer-devel.Portfile.diff (822 bytes) - added by rogerdpack@… 12 years ago.
this bumps the version of mplayer-devel, enables its (forgotten) dvdnav support, adds some dependencies as explicit (since they're picked up), and bumps the svn version.
mplayer.Portfile.diff (221 bytes) - added by rogerdpack@… 12 years ago.
this adds the "forgotten" dvdnav option, which I think is right since it has its own internal bundled dvdnav

A work-around is to download MplayerX, then use its internal mplayer which has dvdnav enabled (for followers). Thanks! -roger-

Port: mplayer added
Summary: [mplayer-devel] @33720 dvdnav fails to playmplayer, mplayer-devel: add dvdnav support
Type: defectenhancement

Has duplicate #30005 which was filed against mplayer. We'll combine both of these ports into this ticket.

Certainly if mplayer were to use dvdnav, it would need a dependency on dvdnav. It is not acceptable for a port to use a library it does not declare a dependency on.

Currently mplayer-devel has its own explicit "bundled" versions of libdvdcss, libdvdnav and libdvdread. What's your take on that, is it ok, or should it better depend on the libdvdnav/read/css ports?
