Is python26 a pre-requisite of farsight2?

Description
Upon installing farsight2, I received the following error:
:info:configure checking whether /opt/local/bin/python2.6 version >= 2.4... configure: error: too old
I only had python27 installed.
Installing python26 seemed to fix the issue.
