- Port changed from sshfs to macfuse
- Summary changed from Unable to install sshfs to macfuse fails to activate: /opt/local/var/macports/software/macfuse/2.0.3_0 does not appear to exist
It looks like this is a problem activating macfuse; can you do a port uninstall macfuse and then try to reinstall with -d?
Your ports tree is out of data and it would be worth doing a selfupdate. Also, we recently switched to using fuse4x as the default fuse dependency rather than macfuse. It probably doesn't make much of a difference which you use on 10.6, but you may want to install that instead.

Tried uninstalling followed by install. Still the same issue. I am not installing the macfuse .. sshfs dependency is picking it ? Donno how i can override it to use fuse4x ? Any pointers.

Please run port clean macfuse && port -d install macfuse. The relevant part of the log was missing because you first attempted the install without -d.
Your ports tree is out of date, as the warnings indicate. If you run a port selfupdate, you'll get the latest changes which include the change in dependency from macfuse to fuse4x.

After a long wait I see this .. perl5 related issue :(

This is an unrelated bug, but uninstalling perl5.8 should fix it.
