Description
I attempted to patch the config.macosx file (used to generate Makefiles) but only get a slightly different error rather than fixing the glitch.
Attached please find my patch and the build log showing the full error output.

With guidance from akaplan in #macports, freenode IRC, a more specific and less clunky solution was found.
Fix committed in r84126.
