Yes, it looks like 1.6 is the last release with ppc support. The portfile needs to indicate this with supported_archs (and removal of the darwin powerpc block), and if desired, a ccl16 port can be created for ppc users.

I would make a variant for PPC, but SVN repo is dead. We do not have backups of old distros, do we?
