MacPorts-2.0.3-10.6-SnowLeopard+install netpbm: Error: Port netpbm not found

After I installed MacPorts-2.0.3-10.6-SnowLeopard I tried to run: "sudo port install netpbm" but I get the following error message: 

     Warning: No index(es) found! Have you synced your source indexes?
     Error: Port netpbm not found

I'm using Xcode version 3.2.6, MACOS 10.6.8, and MacPorts-2.0.3-10.6-SnowLeopard

It sounds like you have not synced your source indexes. In other words, please run: 

sudo port -v selfupdate
