Pango problem in showing arabic language characters

Description

I have installed pango @1.28.4_1+no_x11+quartz (active) and gtk2 @2.24.7_0+no_x11+quartz (active) on my os x 10.5.8.

When running a program that calls pango (exp. pango-view). It has problem of showing some unicode texts correctly. I also get the error message:

Pango-WARNING **: Expected RTL run but shape-engine='BasicEngineATSUI' returned LTR. Fixing.

I haven't a clue what to do about this. You should write to the developers of pango.

Thanks for referring me to the developers of pango. I actually found a response to my question in a website related to them:

To summarize the discussion there:

This problem is well-known problem with pango's ATSUI backend in Mac OS X. Pango's developers are developing CoreText backend, that will be replacing the ATSUI backend for Macs running Mac OS 10.5 and later.

The new version of pango has solved the problem, now texts are rendered correctly!
