pari: compiles but does not work properly

Reported by: sczech@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.0.4
Keywords: Cc:
Port: pari

Description

I installed the pari gp calculator using MacPorts on my macbook pro running Lion. It compiled without generating errors. It does run, but not all functions work correctly, so I contacted the the Pari GP people who said the problem is not with pari gp but with the compiler I used.

What should I do?

I appreciate your help in this matter!

Many thanks in advance!

Could you elaborate on the way in which it does not work properly? What did you do? What happened as a result? What was supposed to happen instead?

Which version of Xcode do you have installed? Which compiler did you use? Since you say you're on Lion, it seems likely you are using Xcode 4.2 or 4.3, which would mean the clang compiler was used. If so, you could try uninstalling pari and rebuilding it with a different compiler. If you find that pari works correctly with a different compiler, let us know so we can modify the port. Also let the developers of pari know so that they can fix pari to be compatible with clang.

Also, pari 2.5.1 is out. I will update the port to this version. Maybe that will help also.

Also, this is a duplicate of #33024.
