openldap will not install — at Version 2

I have tried to install openldap without success on snow leopard intel imac; 

-bash3.2 rmiles $sudo port install openldap
--->  Computing dependencies for openldap
--->  Installing openldap @2.4.21_5
Error: Target org.macports.install returned: no destroot found at: /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_databases_openldap/openldap/work/destroot
Log for openldap is at: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_databases_openldap/openldap/main.log

without openldap gnome will not build nor kde either.

Sounds like a duplicate of #29223. "sudo port clean openldap" and try again.
