GCC45 fails to configure: road to installing R

Hello,

Having an issue installing R at the moment. Tried a lot of tips and tricks from other tickets, such as using different compilers to install R, cleaning and trying to reinstall dependencies and the mv clang temp.clang compiler trick. Fairly new to macports but have a good background in computing - hopefully someone else has had this issue, or hopefully it could be resolved here. I must add, this problem relates only to the R port so far, I've tried others and everything else (e.g. wine, gcc44, blobwars) installs without a hitch.

I'll include main.log for your perusal and anything else you might require, on request.
