If port selfupdate included the text port list outdated, to complement (not replace) port upgrade outdated, it would be possible to cut/paste the sequence
port list outdated port upgrade outdated
without having to use the keyboard.

You mean "port outdated", not "port list outdated"; "port list" doesn't do what you think it does.
