digikam @3.5.0: hangs during startup

Operating system 10.6.8 XCode 3.2.6

I first installed digikam (pre 3.4) a few months ago and had no trouble using it. After upgrading it to 3.4 and 3.5 I have been unable to use it. When I start the program the window opens, the "Tip of the Day" is shown, along with a small window reporting finding new items is complete and took 00:00:00 seconds. Then the program hangs and the spinning ball appears. No thumbnails are shown, nothing is possible. I have followed all the instructions I know of:

sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist
launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist
launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.macports.kdecache.plist

The only port I have installed is digikam and its dependencies.

Can anyone tell me is going wrong?

This looks like the bug that I fixed some time ago in the KDE libs. Essentially, updating the status bar went into an endless loop, so digikam became irresponsive starting with 3.5.0. In the meantime, the kdelibs package has been updated, to 4.12 and the problem should be gone. So this ticket can probably be closed.

Assuming the issue to be fixed following the comment above, and the updates of both KDE and Digikam to newer versions. Please notify if the ticket must be reopened.
