Description: modified (diff)
Port: grads added
Summary: Installing grads using sudo port occurs errorgrads: /opt/local/bin/wgrib already exists and does not belong to a registered port

In order to force the activation, you would need to specify which of the two versions you have installed you want to activate, for example:

sudo port -f activate grads @2.0.2_7

But the real question is why does /opt/local/bin/wgrib already exist and not belong to a registered port? That should not be. If you cannot explain why these files already exist, who knows how many other files are in your MacPorts prefix that should not be there. Because of this, you may run into this or other problems again later with other ports. It may be safer to uninstall all ports, and uninstall MacPorts and delete all of /opt/local, after saving any important data therein, and then reinstalling MacPorts and the ports you want. Then you can be sure the only files that are there are the ones MacPorts put there.

I tried activating grads @2.0.2_7 and it works. But it occurred error like

Error opening stroke character data set
  Data set names = /usr/local/lib/grads/scripts/font0.dat ; font0.dat

So i uninstalled all ports, reinstalled Macports and done self updating but it still occurs

Error opening stroke character data set
  Data set names = /usr/local/lib/grads/scripts/font0.dat ; font0.dat

I think installing Macport hasn't any problem but installing grads has problem cause it showed

$ sudo port install grads
--->  Computing dependencies for grads
--->  Cleaning grads
--->  Updating database of binaries
---> Scanning binaries for linking errors
--->  No broken files found.

What should i do? i googled it but can't find answer what i want..

Replying to kimi4896171@…:

Error opening stroke character data set
  Data set names = /usr/local/lib/grads/scripts/font0.dat ; font0.dat

I'm not sure why grads is looking for anything in /usr/local, since that's not where MacPorts installs files. Takeshi?

Check the environment variables. You might have installed a GrADS binary installed and set the environment variables for it. See the documentation.
