it looks like 0.14 requires Qt5 - also the patch doesn't appear to be needed.

As of 2016-07-31, v0.15.0 is out. Quite a few significant improvements.

I just pushed a branch to my personal ports branch, which updates stellarium to 0.15.0 & works for me. I'm not sure why all of the qt5-qt* ports are required, but those are linked into the executable so I included them as dependencies: https://github.com/michaelld/macports-ports/tree/stellarium_0.15.0 . Can others please test / verify?

I found a missing dependency with trace mode and the build system wants to pick up ccache, even when it was not enabled in macports.conf.

OK; I like your tweaks. I'd say go ahead & merge in your branch to the main master, after rebasing to the main master of course. I forgot to add in that this commit fixes this ticket. Maybe add during the merge?
