MacPorts installs OSXFUSE 2.8.2, which is the latest stable release according to ​osxfuse.github.io.

OSXFUSE 3.0.x are development releases and there is no indication yet that they are fully ready for general use.

The latest OSXFUSE stable is now 2.8.3. I am attaching a patch that updates OSXFUSE from 2.8.2 to 2.8.3.

Updates OSXFuse from 2.8.2 to 2.8.3

OSXFUSE is failing to build on macOS 10.12. Developer preview version 3.5.0 does work — and there's currently no indication that the 2.x series will be supported. Since some key ports are relying on OSXFUSE and refuse to install without that dependency, the fuse port part of MP is in effect broken on Sierra for the time being.

OSXFUSE is failing to build on macOS 10.12.

That's unrelated; that #52228. This ticket is only about updating osxfuse to 2.8.3. The ticket about updating osxfuse to 3.5.0 (which I expect supports macOS 10.12) is #50588.
