teTeX does not install

Description

I did:

port install teTeX

and for more than an hour the computer has been sitting here:

braeburn:/opt/local root# port install teTeX ---> Installing teTeX 3.0_1

with no indication that it is making any progress other than tclsh8.4 burning about 33% of the CPU. So it looks like I am in some unpleasant middle state. A lot of stuff got installed, but not TeX. Restarting the command takes me right back to where I am hung, and uninstall fails since teTeX is not yet installed.

What is your platform? On my powerbook G4 1.5 GHz with 1 GB RAM, teTeX alone takes about 45 minutes to build (if all the dependencies are present).

Try "port -v install teTeX"; the -v flag will give verbose output and let you watch all of the installation excitement!

Same config as yours: 1GB and 1.5GHz. After about another hour it finished. Weird.

Do you know how to get pdflatex to do letter size by default? I can't find a pdflatex.cfg file.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Darrell,

I'll mark the bug as closed. Thanks for getting back to me.

To set the default paper size in teTeX, use the "texconfig" command in a terminal window. teTeX has modified the standard configuration methods of a number of the component applications, so you won't find a "pdflatex.cfg" or "pdftex.cfg".

Best Wishes, Greg
