11
If you would like to install DarwinPorts, it first needs to be
12 “checked out” of the OpenDarwin CVS repository.

13
14
Please note that in order to install and run DarwinPorts on Mac OS X, you must
15 have either the Mac OS X Developer Tools (for 10.2.x), or XCode (for
16 10.3.x) installed.

17
18
If you want to use DarwinPorts on a platform other than Mac OS X, please be
19 aware of the following dependencies (we assume that you have basics such as
20 gcc):
21

22
TCL (8.3 or 8.4)

23
curl

24
md5 (some systems have 'md5sum', you can safely symlink that to 'md5')

25

27
Use the following commands to check the project out of the CVS
28 repository:

29
30
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.opendarwin.org:/Volumes/src/cvs/od login
31cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.opendarwin.org:/Volumes/src/cvs/od co -P darwinports

33
When the server asks you for a password, simply press
34 <kbd>return</kbd> on your keyboard—the password is empty.

35
36
If you do not want to bother with fetching from CVS, you can download
37 a nightly updated
38 CVS-snapshot. Once extracted, you can keep it up to date with the usual
39 CVS commands.

40
41
If you'd simply like to view the CVS repository without checking it
42 out, you can do so via <a
