#50027 Qt5 yosemite mcalhoun@… defect closed Normal
Description

Installing Qt on yosemite fails to build apps.

It installs Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.11.sdk but to run Qt needs Contents/Developer/Platforms/MacOSX.platform/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.9.sdk

To run rename the 11 to 9. It should be 10 !!! I've not looked so the SDK may be part of Xcode not from macports. Never the less macports QT5 requires the 11 to be 9

#50020 pinentry-mac fails [OS X 10.11, El Capitan] ionic@… defect closed Normal

  • sudo port -f uninstall installed
  • sudo rm -rf /opt/local/var/macports/build/*

I did not even ave my ports/requested as I wanted to start a totally new thing. My first install was path (sudo port install pass), and it failed because of pinentry-mac:

#50009 rust should be made available for MacOSX 10.6 g5pw@… enhancement new Normal
Description

As I read under https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/25342 or https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/27057 or https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/26581 work has been done by the rust developers to enable MaxOSX 10.6 support, in particular using the configure option --disable-elf-tls. I would love if this work-around could be adopted on the Portfile level for Darwin 10. Presently I obtain this blocking message when trying to install:

Error: rust is only supported on OS X 10.7 Lion or later.

Until this issue fixed upstream, I suggest a similar patch to browser:trunk/dports/devel/libcryptopp/Portfile@138213 The patch could be simpler: change in GNUMakefile install_path to "$(PREFIX)/lib/$@":

#49925 KF5 : PortGroup and initial ports (frameworks) mk@… submission new Normal
Description

Here's an initial implementation of a PortGroup and the basic ports required to deploy KF5 through MacPorts, thanks in large part to lots of preliminary heavy lifting behind the scenes by Marko Käning. Without him this would have been much more work.

This initial submission contains the PortGroup, the Frameworks, and a few tightly related ports. As always, further development can be followed via https://github.com/RJVB/macstrop/tree/master/kf5 .

KDE5 is not a straightforward thing to deploy (package), in some ways even less so than KDE4, but in other ways "things" have improved sufficiently that a lot can be abstracted and automatised (more so than with KDE4).

Most of that is done in the PortGroup, which contains the basic logic that makes declaring a port for a given KF5 application relatively easy. It also contains version definitions, because despite being individual packages, KF5 components are released in synchronised fashion, and won't build against older components. The PortGroup is also responsible for including the Qt5 PortGroup, and does so by indicating a preference for port:qt5-kde.

The frameworks themselves, the building blocks on which KF5 applications are based (and "interesting/useful extensions to Qt5") are a bit different. I have chosen to bundle all frameworks as subports in a single (huge) portfile, in order to increase sharing of patches and reinplace statements (something the benefits of which I hope I won't have to explain). The meta-port is almost complete; it lacks only a number of "porting aid" frameworks which I plan to add when needed (or "in due time").

That meta-port, KF5-Frameworks, also contains the variant that I consider crucial for MacPorts, the one that activates the XDG-compliant mode of Qt's QStandardPaths. In a nutshell, this is the mode in which makes Qt5 (and KF5) code look for shared resources under ${prefix}/share, and use ~/.config, ~/.local and ~/.cache instead of the OS X-ish equivalents. Individual applications (pure Qt5 or KF5) may be adapted or even conceived to use the Apple-equivalents of these locations, but KF5 applications as a whole are designed primarily to function in a Freedesktop (XDG) universe, and cohabit/interact with other XDG-compliant applications that are *not* based on Qt5 (e.g. KDE4!). I consider this something MacPorts cannot ignore or not support. I'd even go so far as to remove the possibility to build KF5 otherwise, but as long as the QSP patch is only shipped with port:qt5-kde I see no other way than to provide a variant that becomes a default variant if the QSP/XDG activator is detected at build time. The KF5 PortGroup indicates a preference for port:qt5-kde and therefore it is that port which will be installed during a fresh install or on a build bot. I am aware this is a potential violation of the repeatable build principle, but only for/by users who go against a recommended dependency (and these users will be obliged to install all KF5 ports from source).

NB: The XDG activator is an additional link module that I bundle with my port:qt5-kde; linking it with all KF5 frameworks means that any KF5 application will use QStandardPaths in XDG-compliant mode; this blunt approach is required since there is no single KF5 component with which all dependents are obliged to link. Making the compliancy mode optional (and inactive by default) means that "pure Qt5" applications function with native OS X QStandardPaths, and will thus behave exactly as their counterparts if installed from an official installer other external source. I consider that of equal importance as the repeatable build principle.

Also note that there are a number of tweaks that allow me to use the same build and packaging logic on Linux, for testing and comparison; those tend to relax dependencies so they are obtained from the host. I'm not adamant on "getting these in" of course, but as long as I'm principle maintainer on these files I'm also not very keen on removing them .

#49924 attica : move Qt4/KDE4 headers and add Qt5 subport nicos@… enhancement new Normal
Description

This supersedes and replaces ticket #49109 , and depends on ticket #49595

  • attica (for Qt4/KDE4) installs its headers into ${prefix}/include/attica, where they can be picked up instead of those from the KF5 version (port submission pending). Rather than fixing the the build system in an unknown number of dependent ports, it is more convenient to move the headers of the KDE4 version into the KDE4-specific headerfile prefix which is required anyway (see ticket #49595).

(Note that revbumps shouldn't be required for this kind of change.)

  • adds a Qt5 subport. I'm not convinced this one is very useful once kf5-attica is available; it should probably be marked as replaced_by that one, in due time. See #49109 for the Qt5-specific patchfiles.

#49909 enchant: add a default dictionary. anant@… enhancement closed Normal
Description

As both aspell and hunspell point out, for any spell checking to be done, at least one language dictionary needs to be installed. Since these ports are generally used via enchant, I suggest adding a default dictionary to enchant as a runtime dependency. This will allow spell checking in any application that uses enchant to work at, at least, a basic level rather than throwing an error.

Attached is a proposed patch that adds port aspell-dict-en as a default runtime dependency.

#49903 libcxx: undo changes to system directories when deactivating jeremyhu@… enhancement new Normal
Description

The original purpose of the cxx11 portgroup was so that ports that require C++11 both themselves and in their dependencies can inform the user that they must perform the steps in LibcxxOnOlderSystems and reinstall all ports.

However there are other ports that only require C++11 for themselves, and do not have any C++-using dependencies. mongodb and aria2 are examples. In mongodb it was no problem to just include the cxx11 portgroup and write "configure.cxx_stdlib libc++" into the Portfile since mongodb requires OS X 10.7 and later which includes libc++. However aria2 might work on Snow Leopard, if only libc++ were there.

I would like to modify the cxx11 portgroup to accommodate this use case, by having it check if configure.cxx_stdlib is libc++, and if so, adding a library dependency on port:libcxx on OS X 10.6 and earlier. I understand that the libcxx port needs to install files into OS directories after activation, but it makes me uncomfortable that those files are not removed before deactivation. Could that be done? It seems like it should be possible to list the contents of the tar archive that was expanded on activation, and then delete every item of that list. This assumes that the libcxx port doesn't overwrite any existing OS files; I don't know if that's normally the case. I realize it's not the case if the replacemnt_libcxx variant is used on OS X 10.7 or later. In that case, the port could make a backup of the files it would overwrite, and restore those files on deactivation.

#49851 cmake @3.4.0_0 fails to read file /Library/Frameworks/Gtk.framework/Headers/gtk/gtk/gtkversion.h (gtk/gtk hierarchy does not exist) macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal
Description

On a system with uname -a yielding

Darwin giotto 15.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 15.0.0: Sat Sep 19 15:53:46 PDT 2015; root:xnu-3247.10.11~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64

The port build of cmake currently checks for a version number of gtk in file

/Library/Frameworks/Gtk.framework/Headers/gtk/gtk/gtkversion.h

but as my system only has

/Library/Frameworks/Gtk.framework/Headers/gtk/gtkversion.h

this port will only build with a work-around softlink gtk -> . inside dir

#49849 Don't use system availability macros in webkit-gtk headers devans@… defect closed Normal
Description

Building midori on Snow Leopard fails because of incorrect availability macros in webkit-gtk. The macros are annotating availability of the symbols as they would be in the OS X Webkit.framework, but these symbols are always available in our port, so they should not be present.

#49841 Building ffmpeg with avfoundation on OSX Lion devans@… enhancement assigned Normal

Currently ffmpeg has configuration in the Portfile to not build avfoundation indevice for OSX Lion:

    if {${os.major} < 12} {

but it builds fine on OSX Lion when using the clang compiler. It could be nice to remove this restriction for OSX Lion from the Portfile and change the os.major check to be:

    if {${os.major} < 11} {
        configure.args-append --disable-indev=avfoundation
        configure.compiler clang
