#51439 ghc: allow building with clang-3.4 or later cal@… enhancement new Normal
Description

I tried building ghc with clang 3.4 on 10.7 which worked fine. I have 3.4 and the latest one installed and it felt like a nuisance to install also version 3.5. It would be great if one could build with either clang compiler that's new enough, not just 3.5.

#51438 Failed to fetch dependancies, Failed to verify signature for archive! macports-tickets@… defect new Normal
Description

Yes I've read the many duplicate Tickets about signatures failing to verify, however I've tried this on multiple wifi networks and a data network, so its not a network error. I simply cannot fetch the dependancies needed for GPhoto2.

#51437 Should qscintilla force C++ linkage? michaelld@… defect closed Normal
Description

Many of the header files force C++ linkages QScintilla but only on Macs

#ifdef __APPLE__
extern "C++" {
#endif

This causes a problems when trying to build octave with GCC:

Why forced C++ linkage is needed (but only on Macs) is not clear to me.
I have posted a question on the upstream mailing list, but so far, no response.

I have attached a patch that seems to fix the problem, but it seems a little dangerous without knowing why it was done in the first place.

#51435 orfeotoolbox new release stromnov@… update new Normal
Description

Dear OTB maintainer,

I'm trying to install orfeotoolbox from macports with no success. I've tried modifying the portfile so that it installs 5.4.0, but I get the following..

Firstly in debug mode it is stated that "No Jpeg2000 driver found (compatible drivers are : OpenJpeg, Kakadu, ECW).", though I have OpenJPEG installed and have temporarily deactivated openjpeg15.
It then goes on to the following error before stoping

-- GDAL doesn't have HDF5 drivers. (HDF5 tests will be deactivated)
-- Check if Gdal qualifies for Orfeo ToolBox -- yes.
--   Version : 2.0.2
--   Drivers for JPEG 2000 :
CMake Warning at CMake/FindOpenThreads.cmake:99 (message):

  Modules/ThirdParty/OpenThreads/otb-module-init.cmake:1 (find_package)
  CMake/OTBModuleEnablement.cmake:356 (include)
  CMakeLists.txt:262 (include)

I, therefore, am very keen to know when a new macport for orfeotoolbox 5.4 is likely to be available, or whether their is a known issue/work around the error I'm getting in my portfile.

Many thanks. Stefan

#51430 How to access port programmes (such as chkrootkit or clamav) macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal
Description

I have macports installed on El Capitan but port and sudo port commands to try to activate a macports installed programme only produces an error such as:

Error: Unrecognized action "port clam"
Error: org.macports.load for port clamav returned: Launchd plist /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.clamav.plist was not found

So I don't know how to use macports programmes. Sudo port self-update works and other port commands but I can't access anything in it, any of the programmes that macport has installed to run and use them. I've looked long and hard for answers on the net but can't find anything.

#51416 libcaca @0.99.beta19: Checksum (rmd160 / sha256) mismatch ryandesign@… defect closed Normal
Description

I was trying to install gnuplot +pangocairo +qt +wxwidgets on a fresh MacPorts installation.

Gnuplot brings in libcaca, but it appears that the checksums can not be verified and the installation stops. I did a sudo port clean --dist libcaca and then a sudo port install libcaca but it still fails.

I am wondering, can it be the case that some server is simply down and can not verify the checksums, or is it the case that the checksums have not been updated on the server side? In any case, attached the log file.

#51407 inkscape: enchant must be installed with +aspell and without +applespell devans@… defect assigned Normal
Description

On installing port inkscape, MacPorts installs the dependency enchant @1.6.0_4+applespell. Then, when attempting to install port inkscape it returns the following error:

:debug:archivefetch enchant is installed with the following variants: +applespell
:debug:archivefetch   required: aspell, forbidden: applespell
:debug:archivefetch rejected, because required variant aspell is missing
:error:archivefetch org.macports.archivefetch for port inkscape returned: enchant must be installed with +aspell and without +applespell.
:debug:archivefetch Error code: NONE
:debug:archivefetch Backtrace: enchant must be installed with +aspell and without +applespell.

If I attempt to install enchant variant +aspell, MacPorts installs variant +applespell+aspell. Then, I get the same error, essentially, when attempting to install inkscape.

#51402 Problem installing kmymoney on El Capitan macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal
Description

I am trying to get kmymoney into a new installation of El Capitan on a MacBook Pro. Last fall, I was successful in getting this to work on a different new El Capitan installation on an iMac (and on everything else I've run it on--Linux, Windows and Mac--going back a number of years).

Here's the problem I'm running into:

I installed MacPorts and everything went fine. I then typed "sudo port install kmymoney4" and it told me it was computing dependencies. It listed all the dependencies and went for one (the first time out, this was gmp). It then listed a bunch of repositories where it looked and ended up with an error saying that archivefetch failed to find gmp, bringing the whole process to a halt.

I tried this a few times, with the same result, so I thought I'd try just installing gmp individually. I typed "sudo port install gmp" and it worked perfectly. So then I tried kmymoney4 again, and ran into exactly the same problem with the curl-ca-bundle package. So I installed that separately, and it worked. I followed the same process (failed kmymoney4 install, then successful individual package install) with expat and libiconv, but kmymoney4 just keeps hanging on the next package.

At some point, I got an error saying that my DNS server was reporting that some sites that don't exist actually do, and it suggested that I change my DNS server (this makes sense--my cable provider "helpfully" turns bad web addresses into a search that it takes command of). So I changed my DNS server to Google (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and I no longer get that error.

So it's clear that these packages are in the repositories, because they will install by themselves. But I can't seem to get them to install as part of kmymoney4.

I'm hoping this is something dumb I'm doing on my end that someone much smarter than me will quickly realize. Any thoughts?

#51386 Remove JRuby dependency on Kaffe ciserlohn@… enhancement new Normal
Description

My installation does not use Kaffe, but Oracle JDK. Your JRuby port appears to require kaffe. I don't want Kaffe because it would interfere with my other running stuff.

Therefore I'm asking for an option, a variant, whatever - of a JRuby port that would either discover JDK installation on its own, or accept variant name from the user and take on faith that the user chooses to install this variant only if/when he has Oracle JDK already installed.

Thank you!

#51378 Atlas build hangs - El Capitan vince@… defect closed Normal
Description

I'm trying to build Atlas on OSX 10.11.4 (MacBook, Pro early 2015). The build hangs. I know Atlas takes a very long time to compile. I left it running for about 24 hours.

Running sudo port -v install atlas, the build stopped at:

At this point no processes with user 'macports' were active. xatlas_build was still alive, but not doing anything. I ctrl-C killed the build.

#51368 gnutls update does not install gnutls-openssl library mps@… defect closed Normal
Description

The gnutls update in https://trac.macports.org/changeset/148228#file9 for some reason does not install the gnutls-openssl library. Some ports such as gnss-sdr are dead in the water without this library.

#51363 in curl, spnego and openldap variants are incompatible ryandesign@… defect new Normal
Description

Let's start from a clean setup :

sudo port uninstall --follow-dependents fbopenssl kerberos5 curl
sudo port clean --all fbopenssl kerberos5 curl

First try:

$ sudo port install curl +spnego +openldap
...
Error: org.macports.activate for port kerberos5 returned: Image error: /opt/local/include/gssapi.h is being used by the active fbopenssl port. Please deactivate this port first, or use 'port -f activate kerberos5' to force the activation.
...

So let's do that and try again :

$ sudo port -f activate kerberos5
...
Warning: Force option set; installing kerberos5 despite conflicts with: fbopenssl
...
$ sudo port install curl +spnego +openldap
...
Installing curl @7.48.0_0+openldap+spnego+ssl
...

But then :

/opt/local/bin/curl -V
curl 7.48.0 (x86_64-apple-darwin14.5.0) libcurl/7.48.0 OpenSSL/1.0.2h zlib/1.2.8

#51362 curl with SPNEGO and git can't be used together. ryandesign@… defect new Normal
Description

Let's start from a clean setup :

sudo port uninstall --follow-dependents fbopenssl kerberos5 git curl
sudo port clean --all fbopenssl kerberos5 git curl

Now I'm installing curl and git after that :

$ sudo port install curl  +spnego +gss
...
Dependencies to be installed: fbopenssl
...
$ sudo port install git
--->  Computing dependencies for git
Error: Unable to execute port: Can't install kerberos5 because conflicting ports are active: fbopenssl

Let's try the other way around :

$ sudo port install git
...
Dependencies to be installed: curl p5.22-authen-sasl p5.22-gssapi kerberos5
...
$ sudo port install curl  +spnego +gss
...
Error: Unable to execute port: Can't install curl because conflicting ports are active: kerberos5

and indeed :

$ sudo port info kerberos5
...
Conflicts with:       fbopenssl
...
$ sudo port info fbopenssl
...
Conflicts with:       kerberos5
...

So I'm stuck, I can't have git and curl with SPNEGO, both are needed for my works environment, what can I do ?

Note: see also the FAQ in the source distribution.
It contains workarounds to several common problems.
In particular, if Valgrind aborted or crashed after
identifying problems in your program, there's a good chance
that fixing those problems will prevent Valgrind aborting or
crashing, especially if it happened in m_mallocfree.c.

If that doesn't help, please report this bug to: www.valgrind.org

In the bug report, send all the above text, the valgrind
version, and what OS and version you are using. Thanks.

#51346 nou.nc: "default" host for New Zealand: ping succeeds, HTTP times out admin@… defect closed Normal
Description

I'm based in New Zealand (.nz). At present it appears this is leading to nou.nc being the automatically selected mirror. However at least today nou.nc is pingable, but HTTP connections (at least from New Zealand) seem to just time out. (Which in turn is made worse by my ISP having a transparent HTTP proxy that fakes the connect and then hangs for a long time before it times out; but even testing via another ISP ping still succeeds and HTTP still fails to connect and/or return a result in a sensible amount of time.)

It's not clear to me how nou.nc is being chosen for New Zealand. While both New Caledonia and New Zealand are Pacific Islands they're a long distance apart, and the connections from New Caledonia to anywhere aren't amazing.

It's also not clear to me if nou.nc is even intended to be used from outside New Caledonia. If it isn't, perhaps it shouldn't be in the public list of mirrors?

Normally I'd expect Australia (eg, aarnet.au) is a much better default choice for New Zealand (it is physically and Internet-topology closer than New Caledonia). But oddly there seems to be a 160ms RTT jump on the NZ to aarnet.au path at present, via my normal ISP (but not via another test ISP). Eg, via my main ISP:

ewen@ashram:~$ ping -c 3 aarnet.au.packages.macports.org
PING mirror.aarnet.edu.au (202.158.214.106): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 202.158.214.106: icmp_seq=0 ttl=51 time=181.136 ms
64 bytes from 202.158.214.106: icmp_seq=1 ttl=51 time=180.148 ms
64 bytes from 202.158.214.106: icmp_seq=2 ttl=51 time=179.894 ms

--- mirror.aarnet.edu.au ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 179.894/180.393/181.136/0.536 ms

And via another ISP in the same city (Wellington, NZ):

ewen@noc:~$ ping -c 3 aarnet.au.packages.macports.org
PING mirror.aarnet.edu.au (202.158.214.106) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from mirror.aarnet.edu.au (202.158.214.106): icmp_req=1 ttl=50 time=47.4 ms
64 bytes from mirror.aarnet.edu.au (202.158.214.106): icmp_req=2 ttl=50 time=47.0 ms
64 bytes from mirror.aarnet.edu.au (202.158.214.106): icmp_req=3 ttl=50 time=47.1 ms

--- mirror.aarnet.edu.au ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 2003ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 47.022/47.226/47.496/0.320 ms

So possibly that's why nou.nc is being selected by the ping test -- it's more than 47ms away, but less than 180ms away:

ewen@ashram:~$ ping -c 3 nou.nc.packages.macports.org
PING pub.lagoon.nc (202.22.158.243): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 202.22.158.243: icmp_seq=0 ttl=48 time=70.361 ms
64 bytes from 202.22.158.243: icmp_seq=1 ttl=48 time=67.023 ms
64 bytes from 202.22.158.243: icmp_seq=2 ttl=48 time=68.514 ms

--- pub.lagoon.nc ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 67.023/68.633/70.361/1.365 ms

via both ISPs.

Possibly some/all of the issue with nou.nc is that it's seeing a surprising amount of load due to aarnet.au having a non-trivial RTT latency to several paths, and thus not being selected for requests.

For now I'm attempting to work around this with host_blacklist in macports.conf. But it might be worth someone asking nou.nc if (a) they are actually allowing outside-country HTTP transfers and (b) if they want to be doing so, and (c) if they can actually cope with the load that gets diverted there when another mirror is "misbehaving".

Error: Checksum (sha1) mismatch for esdl-1.2.src.tar.gz
Error: Checksum (rmd160) mismatch for esdl-1.2.src.tar.gz
***
The non-matching file appears to be HTML. See this page for possible reasons
for the checksum mismatch:
<https://trac.macports.org/wiki/MisbehavingServers>

There are two issues. The primary issue is the error message and failure to install. The secondary issue is the presence of the newer version.

As for the primary issue, the HTML file referred to above is actually a SourceForge's page. It seems as if the URL that points to the esdl tarball could be incorrect. I can manually locate the esdl-1.2.src.tar.gz file at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/esdl/files/esdl/esdl-1.2/esdl-1.2.src.tar.gz/download

Nevertheless, I don't know how fully to resolve this issue.

The secondary issue is that esdl version 1.2 was releasted in 2011. And esdl version 1.3 was released in 2013 and is available for download at Source Forge. And if workable, I'm interested in the newer versions availability.

Thank you.

#51326 gcc5: gfortran is missing macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal

I've installed the gcc package and gfortran-mp-5 installs into /opt/local/bin/gfortran-mp-5. However, there is no 'gfortan' link so that script packages like SciPy fail to build because of that.

My workaround was to add a softlink into my local ~/bin which is part of the system $PATH:

ln -s /opt/local/bin/gfortran-mp-5 gfortran

Perhaps it makes sense to add this link /opt/local/bin?

In trying to use nuweb I noticed that the version available via MacPorts is not in sync with the latest documentation for that tool.

The nuweb port was last last updated about seven years ago from sources which seem to have predated that by several years. This patch incorporates the latest sources from the nuweb project sourceforge page.

I've never submitted a ports patch before so please let me know if any of these patches need to be resubmitted for whatever reason.

#51306 octave-control: configure failure mps@… defect new Normal
Description
  • I upgraded to El Capitan.
  • I completely uninstalled all mac ports, and deleted all related macports files from the system.
  • I've been installing selected packages from scratch. octave-control always fails. The problem appears to be with the fetch of the package.
  • Once it fails I try 'port clean octave-control' and always run into the same problem.
  • From the log (attached to the ticket). I see that the fetch is failing.

#51303 netcdf: Request: Add static library libnetcdf.a to build takeshi@… enhancement new Normal
Description

The majority of library ports that I have installed, but admittedly not all, seem to build and install both a static and dynamic version of the library. This is based on:

$ ls /opt/local/lib/lib*.{a,dylib} |
    awk -F. '!/lib.*\..*\.dylib/ {lib[$1]++}
    END {for (l in lib) if (lib[l] > 1) {
        print l, "yes"; n++
    } else {
        print l, "no"; m++
    }
    print "\n"n, "of", n+m, "have static libraries"}'

Quite a few codes that I use, one example being SEATREE (http://geosys.usc.edu/projects/seatree/wiki/), seem to want to enforce static linking (presumably for executable portability or 'performance'), and so will not use a dynamic library. Would it be possible for the NetCDF port to create a static library?

I apologise for not offering a patch for this, but my brain is not big enough to deal with CMake. I understand this is probably low priority, but I for one would find building a static library very useful, and it hopefully would be fairly trivial. I note that the netcdf-fortran port does build the static library, as does hdf5, which prompted me to believe the suggestion might be feasible. Please let me know if I can help in any way.

#51302 Dovecot Setup Issue. markd@… request closed Normal
Description

Hi.

I have a Mac mini running OS X Yosemite and I'm attempting to follow these instructions: https://trac.macports.org/wiki/howto/SetupDovecot

I have a problem here: Step 2: create directories

When I enter the following at the command line: sudo chown _dovecot:_dovecot /opt/local/var/log/dovecot OS X responds with the following: chown: _dovecot: illegal group name

Previous command line code entered, from here: https://trac.macports.org/attachment/wiki/howto/SetupDovecot/Make_Dovecot_User.command: sudo dscl . -create /Groups/_dovecot sudo dscl . -create /Groups/_dovecot UniqueID 30 sudo dscl . -create /Users/_dovecot sudo dscl . -create /Users/_dovecot UserShell /bin/false sudo dscl . -create /Users/_dovecot RealName "Dovecot IMAP Server" sudo dscl . -create /Users/_dovecot UniqueID 30 sudo dscl . -create /Users/_dovecot PrimaryGroupID 30 sudo dscl . -create /Users/_dovecot NFSHomeDirectory /opt/local/var/run/dovecot

Notes: The _dovecot Group isn't assigned a PrimaryGroupID, but instead a UniqueID. A PrimaryGroupID of 30 is assigned to the _dovecot User. When I view a list of all Groups via the following command: dscl . readall /groups I see a PrimaryGroupID of 30 has already been assigned to _keytabusers.

I’m unsure what to do; the following are potential options: Assign the Group _dovecot a PrimaryGroupID; this may prevent the 'chown: _dovecot: illegal group name' OS X response. Assign a different PrimaryGroupID, i.e. other than 30, to both User and Group to avoid the potential conflict with _keytabusers.

There may have already been a _dovecot User or Group in the 200 range that I deleted as a result of my confusion. Perhaps this was assigned during the earlier 'Install dovecot' command, i.e. 'port install dovecot'. Do you know what the original PrimaryGroupID of such a User or Group was? If a different PrimaryGroupID is used, i.e. other than 30, presumably the one I deleted would be best.

Another option is to upgrade to OS X El Capitan, although I'm not sure whether that will remove the dovecot install thereby allowing me to start again. I'm also unsure whether I could run the 'port install dovecot' command a second time in OS X Yosemite to restore the _dovecot User / Group.

Thanks and best regards, Karl.

Hi! I am using Xcode 3.2.6 (1761) on OSX 10.6.8. Description

This morning I rev bumped a number of ports, including kst, due to a version upgrade of matio. Only, under Snow Leopard the build, actually cmake, failed:

Under El Capitan, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, and Yosemite there is a different error:

#51256 pcb won't build macports-tickets@… defect new Normal
Description

pcb (version 20140316) won't build. It falls over when testing the gd library for the gdImageGif function. I note that GIF support was removed from the GD library in Version 1.6 and added back in version 2.0.28 (see http://php.net/manual/en/function.imagegif.php). MacPorts currently has a gd2 port (version 2.1.1.1). Will pcb build with that?

Thanks,

Tim.

#51246 submission: port:zfs and port:zfs-devel macports-tickets@… submission closed Normal
Description

I've finally gotten around to making a port for the OS X implementation of the ZFS filesystem, now that it seems to have reached a sufficient maturity (read: it no longer causes system instability after having done a few simple tests).

I don't think I have to introduce ZFS here, but for those who really don't know what it is: It's the filesystem that Apple once considered as an officially supported FS, if not the default for OS X. It provides very high data reliability (*), is extremely flexible & scalable and has a potential for very good performance (though not necessarily trivial and probably not yet in the OS X implementation). It also offers optional on-the-fly compression including using the lz4 scheme which is fast enough to improve I/O to slow media (time spent de/compressing is less than the increase in data transfer times).

*) even when using a single partition because it can write each file in multiple copies - a feature that prevented me from losing no more than a single trivial file from my Linux rig when a disk started dropping sectors on me at a rate I never saw before a few days ago.

I already tested an earlier release from an officialy installer on Bradley's (pixilla) VM about a year ago, using it to put a whole MacPorts install in a dataset mounted on /opt/local, with compression, case sensitivity and redundancy for important parts like the registry.

The current implementation installs everything properly into ${prefix}, kernel extensions included. That works fine on OS X 10.9 (with a single warning when loading eacho of the kexts the 1st time).

I'd be very interested in feedback from users on more recent versions of OS X, notably 10.11 . I suspect it might be necessary to put the kernel stuff into /Library when SIP is not disabled (?)

Notes:

  • ZFS does tend to like having sufficient memory. On systems with <8Gb it might be wise to read up on reducing the max. amount used by ARC (not related to ObjC's ARC ;))
  • This is a project that's seeing active development and continuous improvement. There's a port:zfs but I would strongly suggest to test port:zfs-devel.
  • In fact, I'd (almost) suggest to use an official installer from the project's website instead of using port:zfs, because that should give better system integration "out of the box". On the other hand, the MacPorts version should be less intrusive/invasive and easier to uninstall.

WARNING: This port installs kernel extensions which get loaded automatically when using ZFS. As a result it should PROBABLY NOT be deactivated, uninstalled or reinstalled without taking the following precautions: 1) unmount (export) all ZFS datasets and pools 2) kextunload zfs.kext 3) kextunload spl.kext

Question: is there a phase where one could check if either of the kexts is loaded, and raise an error if that is the case (pre-deactivate would be perfect)?
