#47944 poppler @0.33.0: cross-compilation fails: Bad CPU type in executable devans@… defect new Normal

Reported by ryandesign@…, 2 months ago.

Description

I need to create a universal binary of poppler that involves cross-compilation. In the case of the attached log, that means building for x86_64 on an i386 Mac, but it would also mean building for ppc64 on a ppc Mac or on any Intel Mac, or for i386 or x86_64 on any PowerPC Mac.

The error is:

Poppler-0.18: Bad CPU type in executable

It appears the poppler build is trying to run something it just compiled, which cannot work when cross-compiling.

This wouldn't be an issue with the normal universal variant, since all architectures would be in the same file, but it is a problem when using the muniversal portgroup, which poppler does, but r50531 doesn't explain why. Maybe it doesn't need to?

#47932 Missing components for Plplot 5.10.0 takeshi@… defect new Normal

Reported by spongda@…, 2 months ago.

Description

I have recently installed the Plplot graphics port on my Mac running OS 10.10.3. I extensively use Plplot from Fortran codes to make plots. Looking at where Macports installed the Plplot libraries, and based on previous experience I attempted to link Plplot in using a line like:

ifort -o executable code.f `PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/local/lib/pkgconfig pkg-config --cflags --libs plplotd-f95`

However, this doesn't find the plplotd-f95 package (see results below). Where does Macports put this package and how do I modify the compile instructions to find it? If it's not produced during the install, how do I get the port installer to create it?

+ ifort -c new_tae_plotter.f
++ PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/local/lib/pkgconfig
++ pkg-config --cflags --libs plplotd-f95
Package plplotd-f95 was not found in the pkg-config search path.

#47922 ImportError: No module named gnuradio macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal

Reported by plcortesc@…, 2 months ago.

Description

Hello everyone!

I have some troubles trying to execute a GNURadio python script. Gnuradio-companion works well, but when I modify the python script in order to modify the blocks, I cannot execute it from the terminal getting always this error:

$ python top_block.py

Traceback (most recent call last):

    from gnuradio import eng_notation
ImportError: No module named gnuradio

Then I try to set up the environment variable $PYTHONPATH as follows:

$ export PYTHONPATH=/opt/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages:$PYTHONPATH

Now, the error changes when I try to run the top_block.py script:

$ python top_block.py

    from gnuradio import gr

  File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/gnuradio/gr/runtime_swig.py", line 20, in swig_import_helper

Do you have any suggestions? I am completely stuck and I don't know how to keep going. Thank you in advance!

#47920 gd2: build fails with libvpx 1.4.0 due to removal of deprecated API. ryandesign@… defect closed Normal

Reported by devans@…, 2 months ago.

Description

gd2 still uses the long deprecated libvpx API items IMG_FMT_* PLANE_*. The preferred replacements are VPX_IMG_FMT_* and VPX_PLANE_*.

The preferred replacements are available in both the current libvpx 1.3.0 and forthcoming libvpx 1.4.0 (#47907) but the deprecated versions have finally been removed in libvpx 1.4.0 causing the build of gd2 with libvpx 1.4.0 to fail. See attached build log.

The attached patch makes the appropriate replacements providing compatibility with both libvpx 1.3.0 and 1.4.0. When building gd2 with libvpx 1.3.0, no installed files are changed in gd2.

I'm suggesting that this change be committed now so that when libvpx 1.4.0 is committed only a revbump of gd2 will be necessary.

Description

Looks like some renewed interest in this module upstream. Latest changes:

Revision history for Perl module GraphViz.

2.18  Thu May 28 08:43:00 2015
	- All patches to this version are from chrony, via a github pull request. With thanx.
	- Use File::Which on Windows to detect if Graphviz is present.
	- Clean up the code, including Build.PL and Makefile.PL.

2.17  Mon Mar 30 08:56;00 2015
	- No code changes.
	- Create github repo. This has been done because ribasushi (Peter Rabbitson) has kindly offered
		some patches. Hence I've reversed my policy of encouraging this module to die :-).
	- Update Build.PL and Makefile.PL to point to the repo. None of the pre-reqs were updated.

#47904 cmake @3.2.2_0: variants are a confusing mess michaelld@… defect closed Normal

Reported by larryv@…, 2 months ago.

Description

I won’t mince words: cmake’s variants make no sense. Half of them only exist if one of the other half are selected. This is not discoverable at all, and I suspect most users only realize that they had a choice after they install cmake.

Say I want to install CMake.

% port variants cmake
cmake has the variants:
   docs: Build documentation: HTML and manpages
   gui: Build Qt-based cmake-gui
   universal: Build for multiple architectures

Looks like I have three choices. Cool. I decide to build cmake-gui and the documentation.

% sudo port install cmake +docs +gui
--->  Computing dependencies for cmake
The following dependencies will be installed:
 dbus
 lcms
 libmng
 py27-alabaster
 py27-babel
 py27-docutils
 py27-jinja2
 py27-pygments
 py27-roman
 py27-six
 py27-snowballstemmer
 py27-sphinx
 py27-sphinx_rtd_theme
 py27-tz
 python27
 qt4-mac
 sphinx_select
Continue? [Y/n]:

Eh. Maybe I already have Python 3.4 installed, and I’d rather not install Python 2.7, but it doesn’t look like I have a choice, so I’ll just go with it. But the +gui variant seems to require qt4-mac. What if I have qt5-mac installed? Those conflict, so I guess I’ll just go without the GUI.

Except that that wasn’t necessary at all. Turns out I do have choices, but they’re utterly undiscoverable. I’d have to check the list of variants after already selecting a variant, which is something I never think to do.

% port variants cmake +docs +gui
cmake has the variants:
  +docs: Build documentation: HTML and manpages
  +gui: Build Qt-based cmake-gui
[+]python27: Build documentation using Sphinx from Python 2.7
     * conflicts with python34
   python34: Build documentation using Sphinx from Python 3.4
     * conflicts with python27
[+]qt4: Build Qt GUI using Qt4
     * conflicts with qt5
   qt5: Build Qt GUI using Qt5
     * conflicts with qt4
   universal: Build for multiple architectures

cmake should eliminate this weird two-level thing and instead present all its variants up front. Something like this.

% port variants cmake
cmake has the variants:
   docs_py27: Build HTML docs and manpages using Sphinx from Python 2.7
     * conflicts with docs_py34
   docs_py34: Build HTML docs and manpages using Sphinx from Python 3.4
     * conflicts with docs_py27
   gui_qt4: Build cmake-gui with Qt4
     * conflicts with gui_qt5
   gui_qt5: Build cmake-gui with Qt5
     * conflicts with gui_qt4
   universal: Build for multiple architectures

No patch to offer, I’m afraid. Sorry for the anticlimax. Feel free to let this lie fallow until I whip up something.

#47903 SuiteSparse @4.2.1_0: update to 4.4.4 michaelld@… update new Normal

#47901 cmake @3.2.2_0+docs+gui: build documentation in Qt help/Assistant format michaelld@… enhancement closed Normal

Reported by rjvbertin@…, 2 months ago.

Description

cmake uses sphinx to generate its documentation, which means a .qch version can be made for use with Qt's Assistant. I propose to do this automatically when combining +docs with +gui and +python34 . The latter condition is because Python 2.7 appears to crash when building the documentation; I have not checked if this also occurs without building the documentation in Qt format. (That does not seem impossible because the .qch file is generated from the HTML documentation, and appears to be built in the destroot step while the crash occurs during the build phase.)

I've also removed my -bundle patch, which turned out not to be a good idea (as I already signalled a while ago).

#47900 libgcc 5.1.0 not building on 10.6.8 macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal

Reported by clykou@…, 2 months ago.

Description

I am trying to install numpy, scipy and astropy on my machine (an old 10.6.8 with dual core) and these keep telling me that they must install libgcc as one of the dependencies.

But each time I have tried to install this one, building it takes at least 2 hours (I have waited for a max. 3 hours) even when both cores of the CPU are working and I just have to cancel it, as I also need to do some actual work with that machine! What is it that makes it take longer than 2 hours? Should I be more worried? Is it because the OS is so old? Any help will be most welcome!

#47883 submission: GammaRay macports-tickets@… submission new Normal

Reported by rjvbertin@…, 2 months ago.

Description

For anyone who sometimes needs to analyse Qt applications for issues that are touch to crack even with Qt Creator, KDAB's GammaRay can be a very useful tool.

This port provides that the current (development) version of that application (git-based because the OS X port is under active development since the previous release version).

The app uses Qt-specific probes that can be built and installed independently, without which it is useless. Hence a somewhat complicated organisation:

  • a Qt4 subport that includes the Qt4 probe
  • a ditto Qt5 subport
  • a main port that acts as a stub/metaport and pulls in the Qt5 subport (and doesn't need to be installed)
  • a GammaRay-probe subport that must be installed with either its qt4 or its qt5 variant, which provides the probe not yet installed.

There's also a kde variant which activates support for KDE (KDE4 with the Qt4 probe, and KF5 with the Qt5 probe in the future).

track https://github.com/RJVB/mp-port-repository/tree/master/devel/GammaRay for future development

#47878 libzip: update to 1.0.1 ryandesign@… update assigned Normal

#47876 New port Tracebox @0.3 macports-tickets@… submission new Normal

Reported by rmerpes@…, 2 months ago.

Description

First of all, sorry for the (more than possible) mistakes in the portfile because it is my first submission.

Tracebox (http://www.tracebox.org/) is a tool that allows to detect middleboxes on any paths, i.e., between a source and any destination. Tracebox can be viewed as a tool similar to traceroute as it uses ICMP replies to identify changes in the packets.

I used the homebew formula as a template https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/blob/master/Library/Formula/tracebox.rb

It is a very useful tool for network admins like me, I hope someone could take a look, please

Thanks in advance!!

#47875 frescobaldi @2.18_0: update to 2.18.1, frescobaldi-devel @20150307: update to 20150524 larryv@… update closed Normal

Description

Please also delete the files folder: the file patch-setup.cfg.diff is no longer needed.

#47874 py-ly @0.9.1_0: update to 0.9.2 larryv@… update closed Normal
#47873 py34-molmod @1.1: SyntaxError: Missing parentheses in call to 'print' yangx59@… defect closed Normal

Reported by ryandesign@…, 2 months ago.

Description

py34-molmod @1.1 failed to build on our buildbots:

  File "setup.py", line 48
    print "Creating %s" % destination
                      ^
SyntaxError: Missing parentheses in call to 'print'

I admit when I committed the port I only verified that py27-molmod installed ok, because I was having problems specific to my own system with py34-molmod's dependencies and I assumed it would work on other systems, but it appears it does not.

If it can be fixed to work with python34, great; otherwise, we can remove the py34-molmod subport.

#47872 Add new port: mdsplus macports-tickets@… submission new Normal

Description

Attached is a portfile for a new mdsplus port. Unfortunately, I am not able to build with the attached portfile, and I could use some help getting past the hang up. Below is the final part of the main.log. If this is not the appropriate way to ask for help, then please let me know the more appropriate method.

Reported by gwong@…, 2 months ago.

Description

Prior to "sudo -u _mysql mysql_install_db" there needs to be:

chown -R _mysql:_mysql /opt/local/etc/mysql56/

This may be only applicable to Yosemite (I'm on v10.10.3) but it already noted in another ticket, https://trac.macports.org/ticket/44978 , and at http://serverfault.com/questions/543725/cant-start-mysql-5-6-installed-via-macports-on-os-x-10-8-5-new-install-errno .

  WARNING: Could not write to config file /opt/local/etc/mysql56/my-new.cnf: Permission denied

This is the warning you get as part of the port install, but then you run into ERROR when running "sudo -u _mysql mysql_install_db"

As more and more users are on Yosemite, this may become more important. Thanks! Gary

#47811 boost: use system layout instead of tagged layout ryandesign@… enhancement new Normal

Reported by mjpost@…, 2 months ago.

Description

The boost Portfile specifies '--layout=tagged' in its build.args. This allows multiple boost variants to be installed, I suppose, but also makes it hard to link against boost libraries which assume the Unix standard boost layout, which is '--layout=system' (which doesn't decorate libraries with config options like "-mt". It seems to me it would be preferable to use the default layout, on the assumption that people who really require different variants will have the technical know-how to install them from source to nonstandard locations.

#47808 port:jpeg proposal to prepare for making port:libjpeg-turbo the default jpeg dependency ryandesign@… enhancement new Normal

Reported by rjvbertin@…, 2 months ago.

Description

This is the draft proposal for a change in how port:jpeg installs, helping to prepare for a transition to using port:libjpeg-turbo (or mozjpeg) as the default "jpeg provider".

I propose

  • to install to ${prefix}/libexec/jpeg
  • to provide a +transitional variant (default for now) that hides this change from the installed ports
  • to provide a grace period (during which +transitional exists and) during which even -transitional installs a symlink to just libjpeg.9.dylib so that existing ports can continue to use that library without requiring a rebuild.

I've tested both +transitional and -transitional, the latter with libjpeg-turbo installed and used by 2 ports (simply by rebuilding them).

The only anomaly I can think of is the fact that those 2 rebuilt ports are declaring to depend on port:jpeg while in fact they depend on a library provided by libjpeg-turbo. That's something that I think can get sorted out gradually during the grace period.

#47801 Proposal for adding more recent rpcgen (from FreeBSD2007) macports-tickets@… request new Normal

Reported by pmusumeci@…, 2 months ago.

Description

Hi,

I have been helping the maintainer of the Octave package for Instrument Control get his software building on OS-X. The major issue was that rpcgen in OS-X is an older version that does not support the '-M' thread-safe code generation option. I found that a relatively recent (but not the most recent) copy of the FreeBSD sources for Sun Microsystems' rpcgen will build as-is so I would like to ask if we can have this rpcgen available as a MacPort. Could the more recent rpcgen be added to MacPorts?

Below is a small script that downloads and builds rpcgen from a 2007 era FreeBSD-current. To show the difference in use options, I have also included the help message from both rpcgen - the first is for OS-X rpcgen which mentions that it is has a SunOS 4.1 compatibility mode and the second is the more recent FreeBSD version which has the new '-M' switch and mentions FreeBSD 4.X compatibility.

Thanks,
Phillip Musumeci

#
# Simply download FreeBSD-current rpcgen sources and build for OS-X
# - Some octave packages require a more modern version of rpcgen. The
# Sun Microsystems version of rpcgen as found in FreeBSD in 2007 will
# build as-is, so we use it to replace a much earlier OS-X version.

#47797 ncarg ncl fails on hdf5 mismatch takeshi@… defect closed Normal

Reported by barry.j.mcinnes@…, 2 months ago.

Description

The update of ncarg to ncarg @6.3.0_1 (science), refers to libraries libhdf5.9.dylib and libhdf5_hl.9.dylib, which I do not have currently in macports install. I copied them from an old macports install and then ncl runs, but with the following warnings, which can be turned off, but user has to force quit. Also tried linking the libs to version 10, with the same result. With HDF5_DISABLE_VERSION_CHECK set to 1 or 2, ncl runs ok.

Warning! ***HDF5 library version mismatched error***

The HDF5 header files used to compile this application do not match

the version used by the HDF5 library to which this application is linked.

Data corruption or segmentation faults may occur if the application continues.

This can happen when an application was compiled by one version of HDF5 but

linked with a different version of static or shared HDF5 library.

You should recompile the application or check your shared library related

settings such as 'LD_LIBRARY_PATH'.

You can, at your own risk, disable this warning by setting the environment

variable 'HDF5_DISABLE_VERSION_CHECK' to a value of '1'.

Setting it to 2 or higher will suppress the warning messages totally.

wxWidgets-3.0                  3.0.2_1 < 3.0.2_2

Only one program.

So, I run sudo port selfupdate, followed by port upgrade outdated. The first command is fine. The latter throws this error:

~USER $ sudo port upgrade outdated
--->  Computing dependencies for wxWidgets-3.0
--->  Verifying checksums for wxWidgets-3.0
Error: org.macports.checksum for port wxWidgets-3.0 returned: wxWidgets-3.0.2.tar.bz2 does not exist in /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/wxWidgets/3.0.2_1
Please see the log file for port wxWidgets-3.0 for details:
    /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_graphics_wxWidgets-3.0/wxWidgets-3.0/main.log
Error: Unable to upgrade port: 1

Ok. So I try sudo port clean. I get this:

Can't map the URL 'file://.' to a port description file ("Could not find Portfile in /Users/USER").
Please verify that the directory and portfile syntax are correct.
To use the current port, you must be in a port's directory.

So....should I reinstall macports? What has happened since the last time I ran sudo port selfupdate to cause this error? What did I do?

#47752 gimp-lqr-plugin @0.7.2: autogen.sh failure devans@… defect assigned Normal

Reported by tome@…, 3 months ago.

Description

mac mini 2.7 ghz intel core i7, 8 gb 1333 mhz ddr3, lion 10.7.5, port 2.3.3

the first failure log indicated that automake was at the wrong level in /usr/bin/, so i found the correct level under /opt/local/... and copied it to /usr/bin/, overwriting the lesser version. when the second failure log indicated a different failure, i noticed the log indicated '--prefix=/opt/local', but the configure seemed to be looking in /usr/bin/ for stuff, so it seemed to indicate that configure is not searching properly, hence the ticket. i did cleans between install attempts. the log is included.
