Remove unneeded build dependences that trigger texlive installation even when auto-multiple-choice is installed with -latex option.

#47027 mesa @10.4.4_2: indent: Command line: unknown parameter "-nut" jeremyhu@… defect closed Normal

Reported by jane.r.allison@…, 8 weeks ago.

Description

mesa build fails in following circumstances:

  1. As part of overall upgrade to outdated ports (see mesa-upgrade.log), i.e.

sudo -E port upgrade outdated

  1. When explicitly (re)installing mesa using default settings (see mesa-default.log), i.e.

port -E sudo install mesa

  1. When explicitly (re)installing mesa using llvm-gcc-4.2 as recommended on the ProblemHotlist page (see mesa-llvm-gcc-4.2.log), i.e.

sudo -E port install mesa configure.compiler=llvm-gcc-4.2

  1. When attempting to install texlive, which in turn installs pymol, which requires mesa (see mesa-pymol.log), i.e.

sudo -E port install texlive +full -medium

To make matters more confusing, different errors are encountered each time. Machine specs are: OS 10.7.5, Xcode version 4.6.1 (but am using ports via the command line so not sure if this is relevant).

#47024 Update:php-suhosin 0.9.37.1 ryandesign@… update closed Normal

#47019 p5-pdl: enable pdl2 shell by adding dependency on p5-devel-repl mgrimes@… enhancement closed Normal

Reported by devans@…, 8 weeks ago.

Description

As indicated in the port comments, p5-devel-repl is needed to enable the newer pdl2 shell in PDL. Without it, PDL reverts to the older perldl "simple shell".

p5-devel-repl was added to MacPorts in r133510.

Request that this dependency be added to enable the pdl2 shell.

#47015 Usage of perl variant for a perl application macports-tickets@… defect new Normal

Reported by Joel.Brogniart@…, 8 weeks ago.

Description

Hi,

Using informations from ticket:46570 I tried to modify port x11/auto-multiple-choice to use perl variants. I added the lines:

PortGroup perl5 1.0
...
perl5.require_variant yes
perl5.conflict_variants yes
perl5.branches 5.16 5.18 5.20
perl5.create_variants   ${perl5.branches}

and changed all "port:p5.16" to "port:p${perl5.major}"

All my tests where done after having "sudo port uninstall installed" before .

If I do

	sudo port install auto-multiple-choice
	auto-multiple-choice

All works fine, the application is built, installed and works.

If I do

	sudo port install perl5
	sudo port install auto-multiple-choice
	auto-multiple-choice

All works fine too, the application is built, installed and works.

But if I do

	sudo port install perl5 +perl5_20
	sudo port install auto-multiple-choice
	auto-multiple-choice

The application is built, installed but when launched I get the error:

Can't locate AMC/Basic.pm in @INC (you may need to install the AMC::Basic module) (@INC contains: /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.20/darwin-thread-multi-2level /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.20 /opt/local/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.20/darwin-thread-multi-2level /opt/local/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.20 /opt/local/lib/perl5/5.20/darwin-thread-multi-2level /opt/local/lib/perl5/5.20 .) at /opt/local/lib/AMC/perl/AMC-gui.pl line 45.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /opt/local/lib/AMC/perl/AMC-gui.pl line 45.

I get the same error when I install perl5_18. All auto-multiple-choice files stays at the same places, whatever perl variant is installed. The unreachable file is in "/opt/local/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/AMC/Basic.pm". With the default perl5 install (perl5_16), it seems that @INC contains the path "/opt/local/lib/perl5/vendor_perl' but not with perl5_18 and perl5_20.

Are there other informations I should have added for the application to work with perl5_18 or perl5_20 variants?

#47007 SuiteSparse @4.2.1_3 fails with undefined symbol michaelld@… defect closed Normal

Reported by flatjunk1@…, 8 weeks ago.

Description

Apparently same as ticket:45728, similar to ticket:39072 (SuiteSparse 4.1.0_0). Fixes proposed in latter did not work for me.

Attempting to install octave (sudo port install octave +atlas+docs). Fails repeatedly despite cleaning SuiteSparse and updating ports. Occurred in Yosemite 10.10.1, and still in 10.10.2. Xcode 6.1.1.

Logs and consoles attached. First attempt shown in console was to clean SuiteSparse then install octave. Second attempt follows directions per the "fix" of ticket:39072.

Stymied. Solution MUCH appreciated.

@2.7.8_3 built ok, that was some time ago. I don't know how to act on the above message (there's more than one setup.py for a start). Are these dependencies?

#46984 user port commands (i.e., without "sudo") fail because of incompatible version of tcsh8.5.dylib macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal

Reported by allison.strom@…, 2 months ago.

Description

When trying to update my installation after upgrading to Yosemite, I encountered the following problem:

# port -qv installed

dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/libexec/macports/lib/libtcl8.5.dylib
  Referenced from: /opt/local/libexec/macports/bin/tclsh8.5
Reason: Incompatible library version: tclsh8.5 requires version 8.5.0 or later, but libtcl8.5.dylib provides version 0.0.0
Trace/BPT trap

When I attempt

# sudo port -qv installed

however, it works. This occurs for every port command, but I am having trouble identifying the cause. The file exists, but appears not to have been installed with the most recent base (using the package installer) for Mavericks, which is perhaps the problem. However, when I try to upgrade using the source install as recommend here (https://guide.macports.org/chunked/installing.macports.upgrade.html), I encounter the same problem after attempting 'make':

dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/libexec/macports/lib/libtcl8.5.dylib

#46957 php55-xdebug @2.3.0_0 - Segmentation fault 11 ryandesign@… defect new Normal

Reported by anthony.clarke@…, 2 months ago.

Description

Using either the prepackaged port or building from source results in a "Segmentation fault: 11" error when executing php55 (or "php" if php55 is selected as current) either with or without a script when php55-xdebug @2.3.0_0 is installed.

In order to test, all php packages were removed cleaned and then reinstalled one by one, with php55-xdebug last. The segfault only occurred on this last step.

Finally all of php and additional modules were uninstalled and port cleaned. Just 'php55' was installed and tested as okay, followed by installing 'php55-xdebug' which immediately resulted in a segfault on executing 'php55'

The same procedure was then performed on php56 with php56-xdebug @2.3.0_0 - all tests okay.

It seems php55-xdebug @2.3.0_0 is currently broken.

#46948 valgrind-devel suppressions file raimue@… enhancement assigned Normal

Reported by jhi@…, 2 months ago.

Description

Hi, I just learned that while the main valgrind port doesn't yet support Yosemite, there is valgrind-devel, which does.

Great, thanks for that!

It seems that there are some purported leaks from system libraries (I'm running Yosemite 10.10.2, kernel 14.1.0).

I used --gen-suppressions=all to create a suppressions file, which you might find useful. I left the suppressions as they were, didn't collapse any of the "stack traces", and named them unimaginatively just "leakN".

#46943 py27-gobject3 fails to build on MacOS 10.5.8 PPC; can fix problem with -fPIC cal@… defect assigned Normal

Reported by paulccobb@…, 2 months ago.

Description

I found a few days ago that in trying to upgrade py27-gobject3 from 3.12.1_0 to 3.14.0_0, the build failed with the following error in main.log:

ld: absolute addressing (perhaps -mdynamic-no-pic) used in _pygobject_constructv from .libs/_gi_la-gobjectmodule.o not allowed in slidable image. Use '-read_only_relocs suppress' to enable text relocs
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I can't claim to be an expert on MacPorts or on PowerPC build issues, but I've tried to understand what's going wrong, and offer the following info in case it helps.

I found by experiment in the work/pygobject-3.14.0 directory (under macports/build) that if I insert the switch '-fPIC' in the CFLAGS for each Makefile, that makes the problem go away. As far as I understand the issue, PowerPC compilation has historically assumed -mdynamic_no_pic as the default; so if the rest of the build process wants pic, it has to be enabled explicitly.

In case they're useful, I've attached two files that each capture the output of a 'make' run, invoked in the work/pygobject-3.14.0 directory without args: the first one ends with the build error, while the second has the -fPIC switch present in all Makefiles and appears to run to completion.

#46942 gnuplot 5.0.0 +aquaterm fails to include support for aquaterm mojca@… defect closed Normal

Reported by michaelld@…, 2 months ago.

Description

The configure patch from 4.6.6 was not ported to 5.0.0, so gnuplot now fails to find the Aquaterm header, but does not fail building; it just does not support the "aqua" terminal even with the +aquaterm set. At least for me running 10.8, Xcode 5.1.1 (but, I think this will be generic since it's a compiler arguments issue rather than OS related).

configure:8866: checking for Aquaterm framework presence
configure:8887: /usr/bin/clang -o conftest -pipe -Os -arch x86_64 -I/opt/local/include -I/opt/local/include -I/opt/local/include -L/opt/local/lib -Wl,-headerpad_max_install_names -F/opt/local/Library/Frameworks -arch x86_64 -L/opt/local/lib -lcerf -framework Foundation -framework Aquaterm conftest.m >&5
conftest.m:32:9: fatal error: 'Aquaterm/AQTAdapter.h' file not found
#import <Aquaterm/AQTAdapter.h>

I think the "right" solution is to recreate the configure patch; an alternative that might work is to set some *FLAGS in the configure.env.

#46938 Miriad installed using MacPorts not working peter@… defect closed Normal

I have just tried to install Miriad on Mavericks using MacPorts. No errors were output during the installation. However, when I start Miriad I get the following error:

I then try to run something like "uvplt" and it just Aborts.

I have tried installing the Mavericks version of MacPorts but that has not fixed the problem (this was not a migration so it might not have been done properly)

Thanks very much, Gemma Anderson

...snip...

The offending line in VSDMetaData.cpp is:

static const uint64_t epoch = 11644473600;

Is this considered an upstream bug or should it be patched in Macports because the compiler it chose assumes a non-suffixed literal integer is a long?

Secondly, after applying the supplied patch (that appends ULL to the literal), the build fails if doxygen is not installed.

#46910 pspp +doc+help+gui+quartz-x11 @0.8.4 conflicting dependencies snc@… defect new Normal

Reported by mas@…, 2 months ago.

Description

I tried to install pspp using MacPorts. Naively, I requested the variant list given above. This draws in gnome-desktop which requires gtk3 +x11. However, building for pspp +gui+quartz-x11, MacPorts had already installed gtk3 +quartz, so the build process broke at this point (after about six hours of compile time and some manual intervention to install texinfo [which was required by gsl but not installed automatically for some reason] and cmake [which cannot currently be installed with variant +gui because of #46902]).

Is it actually possible at this point to build pspp +doc+help+gui+quartz-x11? I see now that the portfile tries to set default_variants +x11 if any dependency requires +x11, but in port info pspp, I did not see any hint that building for +quartz might be impossible.

#46899 policykit upgrade still looking for llvm-3.3 after -3.4 install + select devans@… defect new Normal

Reported by dsmithhfx@…, 2 months ago.

Description

Hi,

After unsuccessful attempt to upgrade llvm-3.3 on 10.4.11 ppc, I read this ticket https://trac.macports.org/ticket/39849 pronouncing it "wontfix" -3.3, & advising to switch to -3.4.

I was able to do this and:

port select --set llvm mp-llvm-3.4
Selecting 'mp-llvm-3.4' for 'llvm' succeeded. 'mp-llvm-3.4' is now active.

However, subsequent upgrade attempts including gconf and policykit are still trying to update llvm-3.3:

sudo port upgrade policykit
--->  Computing dependencies for llvm-3.3
--->  Fetching archive for llvm-3.3
[...]

Is there a bug, or how can I enforce the switch to -3.4 in macports?

Thanks

#46890 vtk @6.1.0 build fails on G4, Leopard stromnov@… defect new Normal

Reported by zanderpower@…, 2 months ago.

Description

The log file is attached. Directly before the first error is the line

:info:build cc1plus: error: /usr/lib/libIOKit.dylib: not a directory

My first thought was that I was in deep trouble...what happened to libIOKit.dylib??!! Why is this machine even running? Heart in throat, I determined that, indeed, libIOKit.dylib was in /usr/lib. I re-read the log's error lines more carefully and was struck by the words "not a directory". Well, of course not....

I decided that I was taunting fortune attempting an upgrade to a new major version while still on a PPC. So back to vtk5.

Out of curiousity, I read the port files for both versions and found the block:

if {${os.major} <= 10} {
     configure.args-append \
          -DIOKit:FILEPATH=/System/Library/Frameworks/IOKit.framework
}

in vtk5's Portfile. I edited vtk's (@6.1.0) Portfile, restarted the build and went to bed. This morning, a pleasant surprise--vtk had built! (I really wasn't expecting this to work, and I give full credit to the author(s) of vtk5's portfile.)

Do note, that I have not tested vtk yet, but I suppose this is a step forward.

#46888 scantailor @0.9.11.1_5 build fails with boost @1.57.0_0 raphael@… defect assigned Normal

Reported by Martin.vGagern@…, 2 months ago.

Description

scantailor @0.9.11.1_5 fails to build on my system with boost @1.57.0_0. The build log is pretty long, but the first error is rather early in that log (due to parallel compilation):

:info:build /opt/local/bin/moc @/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macpo
rts_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_graphics_scantailor/scantail

Parse error at "BOOST_JOIN"
:info:build make[2]: *** [zones/ZoneContextMenuInteraction.h.moc] Error 1

Activating boost @1.56.0_2 instead made things work.

#46879 command execution failed when reinstalling octave with gl2ps michaelld@… defect closed Normal

Reported by rspinney20@…, 2 months ago.

Description

Hi,

I'm attempting to install octave on OSX 10.8.5

Salient facts:

  1. I had successfully installed octave with "sudo port install octave +atlas". It was working.
  2. I needed to use the fltk graphics interface (the gnuplot one doesn't support all the moving labels etc. fully) so I uninstalled octave, installed fltk (through macports), then reinstalled octave. This too worked and I was successfully plotting within FLTK GL windows.
  3. Miserably (I have no idea why these packages are not simply listed as dependencies), one cannot save figures with the fltk graphics interface without gl2ps being installed and it is not a dependency, so I uninstalled fltk and octave, installed gl2ps, installed fltk, but when I came to installed octave, I got an error:
--->  Building octave
Error: org.macports.build for port octave returned: command execution failed
Please see the log file for port octave for details:
    /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_math_octave/octave/main.log
To report a bug, follow the instructions in the guide:
    http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets
Error: Processing of port octave failed

Things I have tried:

  1. sudo port selfupdate
  2. sudo port upgrade outdated
  3. totally uninstalled macports (following instructions here (https://guide.macports.org/chunked/installing.macports.uninstalling.html), then started from scratch.

But after trying everything I still get the same error.

By a process of trial and error I get these results based on the permutations (of installations of gl2ps, fltk) I get

gl2ps: not installed
fltk: not installed
octave: builds!
gl2ps: installed
fltk: not installed
octave: builds
gl2ps: installed
fltk: not installed
octave: builds!
gl2ps: installed
fltk: installed
octave: build fails!

which would indicate that including gl2ps, as part of fltk, is what is causing trouble. But I need to save my figures! I don't see the point of being able to use the flexibility of the fltk graphing toolkit, but not be able to save the figures. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I attach the compressed main.log file

Thanks,

R.
