#50905 MacPorts_Framework: error: garbage collection is no longer supported macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal
Description

Having an error running port upgrade outdated. The simple error line is: "Error: org.macports.build for port MacPorts_Framework returned: command execution failed". Log file attached.

port selfupdate ran correctly, I'm updated to macports 2.3.4
Running Yosemite (10.10.5), fully updated
just updated Xcode via App Store recently (to version 7.2.1)

I haven't used macports in a while (I think I was running 2.1.something), so did the selfupdate and got an error having to do with python27 (sorry I can't recall what it was -- something about active and inactive ports, and being unable to update python). So I forced the update, and all seemed well. Then I got this error, and it's persistent.

Tried port clean MacPorts_Framework (as suggested in the "Before Filing" note, and got no errors.
Tried "sudo port -n upgrade --force python27" as suggested in the Hotlist, and got no errors.
Went through the rest of the Hotlist, but doesn't look like my error is there.
Nor could I find it by searching the forum.

Tried re-installing using the downloadable makepackage, but I have no idea if that helped or hurt. Same error message.

Hope someone can help!

#50904 gcc: change dist_subdir mww@… defect new Normal
Description

The crossgcc PortGroup sets

dist_subdir gcc

This means that we end up with two copies of each version of gcc, one in gcc and the other one in gcc${version}.

It would be great if gcc ports would also store the distfiles to /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/gcc/.

#50901 realpath @1.0.0 binary and man page are not installed in the proper location dev.modprobe@… defect closed Normal
Description

The changes in https://github.com/user454322/realpath/commit/63813bbc61eee89855b3b71c056272c9fdc87315 impact the way realpath is installed via MacPorts. It would result on a failed installation.

The attached patch to dports/sysutils/realpath/Portfile should fix it.

#50894 perl: hardcodes compiler and compiler options (packages from CPAN may not compile under a different Xcode version) mojca@… defect new Normal
Description

I have perl5.22 and p5.22-app-cpanminus installed. Trying to install a CPAN module that requires some compiling, e.g. String::CRC32, fails with clang: error: unknown argument: '-fstack-protector-strong' (full output below). This is because /opt/local/lib/perl5/5.22/darwin-thread-multi-2level/Config.pm sets cc to /usr/bin/clang and /opt/local/lib/perl5/5.22/darwin-thread-multi-2level/Config_heavy.pl sets lddlflags to include -fstack-protector-strong when clang does not support that argument (and since XCode 5.1 unknown arguments are errors).

I'm not sure of the solution, sorry, given the arguments are set when perl is compiled and packaged, but it is not possible to use the packages as they currently are on my system (OS 10.10, XCode 6.1).

#50880 octave-devel is not actually using bzip2 distfiles mcalhoun@… defect closed Normal
Description

octave-devel appears to intend to use bzip2 distfiles based on these lines:

use_bzip2 yes

However this is not happening. Because of the erroneous backslash at the end of the master_sites, the next instruction use_bzip2 yes is taken to be names of additional fetch groups from which to download, leading to a warning being printed:

I think the checksums currently in the portfile are correct for those .tar.gz files, so you should remove the errant backslash and comment out the use_bzip2 yes line for now, and maybe re-enable it later at a time when you're updating the version anyway.

#50874 python 1.0 portgroup should clear distfiles for main (stub) port ryandesign@… defect closed Normal
Description

For example, py-htmldocs is a stub port -- it itself does not install anything (only its subports do) -- yet:

$ port distfiles py-htmldocs
--->  Distfiles for py-htmldocs
[py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2] /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://www.python.org/ftp/python/doc/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://distfiles.macports.org/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://aarnet.au.distfiles.macports.org/pub/macports/mpdistfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://cjj.kr.distfiles.macports.org/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2

  http://her.gr.distfiles.macports.org/mirrors/macports/mpdistfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://jnb.za.distfiles.macports.org/distfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://jog.id.distfiles.macports.org/macports/mpdistfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://lil.fr.distfiles.macports.org/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://mse.uk.distfiles.macports.org/sites/distfiles.macports.org/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://nou.nc.distfiles.macports.org/pub/macports/distfiles.macports.org/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://nue.de.distfiles.macports.org/macports/distfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://osl.no.distfiles.macports.org/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://sea.us.distfiles.macports.org/macports/distfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://ykf.ca.distfiles.macports.org/MacPorts/mpdistfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2
  http://svn.macports.org/repository/macports/distfiles/py-htmldocs/py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2

Note that the file "py-htmldocs-1.0.tar.bz2" does not exist anywhere. The subports of py-htmldocs set different distnames.

The consequence of this is that anyone trying to fetch distfiles for all ports -- such as our distfiles mirror -- repeatedly request nonexistent files from web servers -- both from our distfiles mirror itself as well as other listed upstream servers and MacPorts mirrors. This wastes bandwidth and time.

The python portgroup should clear the distfiles variable for the stub port. The php 1.1 portgroup does this and can be used as an example.

#50872 courier-imap @4.4.1 build failure macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal
Description

A recent update to openssl @1.0.2g has caused the courier-imap build to fail.

Interesting parts of the build log:

:info:build ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture x86_64

SSLv2_method declaration is missing from headers, then fails at link time due to missing symbol. As per https://www.openssl.org/news/cl102.txt, OpenSSL 1.0.2g has disabled SSLv2 by default, so SSLv2_method no longer exists. #50865 asks for an SSLv2 variant of openssl, but that seems to be misguided (contradicting a deprecated insecure protocol).

We are using 4.4.1 of courier-imap and imap/ChangeLog shows a date of 14-July-2008. There have been ~20 releases since then; latest 4.16.2 was release 29-Jun-2016.

#50861 grep @2.23_0: Update to 2.24 macports-tickets@… update closed Normal
Description

grep has been updated to version 2.24. New this version:

Bug fixes

grep -z would match strings it should not. To trigger the bug, you'd
have to use a regular expression including an anchor (^ or $) and a
feature like a range or a backreference, causing grep to forego its DFA
matcher and resort to using re_search. With a multibyte locale, that
matcher could mistakenly match a string containing a newline.
  For example, this command:
    printf 'a\nb\0' | LC_ALL=en_US.utf-8 grep -z '^[a-b]*b'
would mistakenly match and print all four input bytes. After the fix,
there is no match, as expected.
  [bug introduced in grep-2.7]

grep -Pz now diagnoses attempts to use patterns containing ^ and $,
instead of mishandling these patterns. This problem seems to be
inherent to the PCRE API; removing this limitation is on PCRE's
maint/README wish list. Patterns can continue to match literal ^
and $ by escaping them with \ (now needed even inside [...]).
  [bug introduced in grep-2.5]

#50857 Warning if launched as non root macports-tickets@… enhancement new Normal
Description

I think it would be great to add a warning message if port is launched as a non root user. I use a lot the root user without sudo (even though the practice is questionable). If I forget to go root or add sudo port selfupdate will fail with macports::selfupdate [array get global_options] base_updated. Adding a warning such as "Cannot run port as a normal user! please use sudo or login as the root user!" would be helpful as I have already seen people posting this issue on stackoverflow.

#50854 scons incorrectly builds projects, serf1 unexpectedly changed dylib versions with just a revbump for OpenSSL ryandesign@… defect new Normal
Description

serf1 was recently revbumped to rebuild against an updated OpenSSL. In doing so, other ports on my system broke because the dylib version of libserf changed:

/tmp/r1 $ tar xjf .../serf1-1.3.4_1+universal.darwin_15.i386-x86_64.tbz2

/tmp/r1 $ otool -L opt/local/lib/libserf-1.dylib
opt/local/lib/libserf-1.dylib:
	/opt/local/lib/libserf-1.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0)
	...

/tmp/r0 $ tar xjf .../serf1-1.3.4_0+universal.darwin_15.i386-x86_64.tbz2

/tmp/r0 $ otool -L opt/local/lib/libserf-1.dylib
opt/local/lib/libserf-1.dylib:
	/opt/local/lib/libserf-1.dylib (compatibility version 1.3.4, current version 1.3.4)
	...

---

Timestamps of when they were built:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 424529 Oct 17 00:33 serf1-1.3.4_0+universal.darwin_15.i386-x86_64.tbz2

The only change to the serf1 port since Oct 17 was the revbump.

However, scons was recently updated from 2.3.4 to 2.4.1, and that certainly seems like the likley cause. I'll give a try reverting it.

#50833 org-mode-devel must install a specific version dports@… defect new Normal
Description

org-mode-devel's version is currently listed as "devel" and it installs from the tip of the git repository. This is not permitted. Port builds must be reproducible, and to that end ports must install a specific known-good version of software. That version must be listed in the version field. If a version number is not available, a date in YYYYMMDD format may be used, or a combination of last known version and date. Ports should fetch from a tarball if possible; fetching from git or other rcs should be considered a last resort.

Dan, I'm assigning to you since you maintain org-mode. If there's no longer a need for an org-mode-devel port, please make org-mode-devel replaced_by org-mode.

If qt4-mac binary package is installed I get the following errors when trying to use it:

ImportError: dlopen(/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.5/lib/python3.5/site-packages/PyQt4/QtNetwork.so, 2): Symbol not found: _SSLv2_client_method
[Mon Mar 07 12:33:13] fjoe@kinky:~$port installed | grep -E '(qt|openssl)'
  openssl @1.0.2g_0 (active)

[Mon Mar 07 12:33:44] fjoe@kinky:~$

So I had to rebuild qt4-mac from the source

#50821 python24, python25, python26, python27, python31, python32, python33, python34, python35: Fix building for strange architecture combinations jwa@… defect new Normal
Description

When trying to build a version of Python for a set of architectures not listed in https://hg.python.org/cpython/file/2.7/Lib/_osx_support.py#l471, the build fails with

  File "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_lang_python27/python27/work/Python-2.7.11/Lib/_osx_support.py", line 485, in get_platform_osx

ValueError: Don't know machine value for archs=('ppc', 'ppc64')
generate-posix-vars failed
make: *** [pybuilddir.txt] Error 1

Upstream they appear to have good reasons to not extend the list of "machine values" (http://bugs.python.org/issue26487).

I think that MacPorts should either restrict builds to architecture sets supported upstream or add a patch that generates machine values for all combinations (similar to http://bugs.python.org/file42073/patch-plat-ppc-fat.diff).

PS: This problem probably affects all Python versions (not only python27).

#50805 openssh @7.1p2_0+kerberos5 slogin missing in OpenSSH_7.1p2 macports-tickets@… defect new Normal
Description

I recently upgraded openssh to version @7.1p2_0+kerberos5 on multiple Macs, which are running multiple versions of MacOS (10.6.8, 10.9.5, 10.10.<latest>). The official OpenSSH project has changed their package such that they no longer install 'slogin' as a link to 'ssh'. In some sense this is fine, because 'ssh' can do everything that 'slogin' can do.

However, in the context of MacPorts this poses a bit of a problem. At least on my machines, if '/opt/local/bin/slogin' does not exist, then I have various script which pick up 'slogin' from /usr/bin/slogin (due to $PATH), and that means I am not running the most-recent version of slogin. And in my case, that causes problems. In my case the problems were very obvious and forced me to fix my scripts, but other users might not notice that they are getting an older version then they think they are getting.

I don't know if macports should add slogin as a link to the ssh it installs, or if maybe it should install an 'slogin' which just tells users that they should be using 'ssh' instead of 'slogin'. (or maybe a little stub-program which warns the user, and then 'exec's /opt/local/bin/ssh).

But I do think something should be done.

#50800 cairo, cairo-devel: fix for build failures against Xcode 7.3 linker when /usr/local/lib is absent ryandesign@… defect new Normal

The Xcode 7.3 linker produces a new warning...

ld: warning: directory not found for option '-L/usr/local/lib'

when the /usr/local/lib directory is absent. The configure script in cairo uses its own pthread test, which doesn't cope with warnings, rather than the standard one from pthread.m4. The attached Portfile.diff adds a simple fix to prune the results from 'cat conftest.err' of lines with these warnings. Tested on 10.11 with Xcode 7.3 beta 5 and /usr/local/lib missing.

Looking at data_cf.h, it seems like MGL_HAVE_GSL is switched off, so mathgl is not picking up GSL headers.

#50794 Macports version of python3.? does not correctly restore Terminal bash shell on exit() macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal
Description

With the macports version of python3.? when exiting the python interpreter (exit() quit() Crtl-D) the bash environment is not restored correctly in Terminal.

The symptoms are:

  • the $PS1 is now prefixed by >>>
  • any keyboard input is invisible
  • pressing return for a new line appends to the end of the existing line

I tried both 3.4 and 3.5. They both behave the same. Other python 3 distributions (python.org, brew) and the macports python2.7 work as expected.

I'm on 10.11.3

#50789 curl @7.47.1 prebuilt binary issue macports-tickets@… defect closed Normal
Description

When using the prebuilt curl binary from macports R runs into issues when attempting to reference the libcurl shared library.

Error in dyn.load(file, DLLpath = DLLpath, ...) :
unable to load shared object '/Users/msteeves/Library/R/3.2/library/curl/libs/curl.so':
  dlopen(/Users/msteeves/Library/R/3.2/library/curl/libs/curl.so, 6): Symbol not found: _SSLv2_client_method

  Expected in: /opt/local/lib/libssl.1.0.0.dylib
 in /opt/local/lib/libcurl.4.dylib

If I install the binary curl and then R, I can get this error when calling "install.packages", or when attempting to build the "curl" package in R. If I uninstall the binary curl then everything works as expected without error, and if I install the curl package from source ("port install -s curl"), then the error also does not appear in that case as well.

:info:build "_OpenAComponent", referenced from:
:info:build _init in ao_coreaudio.o

10.11 has renamed various things in the API:

Component            -> AudioComponent
ComponentDescription -> AudioComponentDescription
FindNextComponent    -> AudioComponentFindNext
OpenAComponent       -> AudioComponentInstanceNew
CloseComponent       -> AudioComponentInstanceDispose

The old names had been deprecated for some time and were recently removed. Apple's docs say that these routines work on 10.6 and forwards.

The attached patch works against both 1.2_1 and 1.2_2.

#50770 In rsync_options, use --delete-delay instead of --delete-after macports-tickets@… enhancement new Normal
Description

MacPorts base currently sets rsync_options "-rtzv --delete-after" in ./src/macports1.0/macports.tcl. --delete-delay is more efficient than --delete-after. We should test if the version of rsync in all versions of OS X MacPorts runs on supports using --delete-delay, and if so, use this instead.

#50740 hdf5: Enable Fortran 2003 when +fortran is appended mmoll@… enhancement closed Normal
Description

Dear Macports, Please consider adding --enable-fortran2003 for the installation of hdf5 when +fortran is appended. Otherwise, it causes users quite a bit of inconvenience. Thanks, Santi

#50736 org-mode @8.3.3, org-mode-devel @devel: emacs-24.5 hangs with 100% CPU use dports@… defect new Normal
Description

When building org-mode on OS X 10.6, emacs hangs indefinitely with 100% CPU use.

This causes a buildbot build of all ports to abort prematurely when alphabetically reaching org-mode; see #49854. (The buildbot master kills the build if no output is seen for 20 minutes.)

This problem was also reported on the emacs-orgmode mailing list by another user last year, with no response.

If the hang cannot be corrected, please modify the port so that it errors out in pre-fetch on 10.6 rather than hanging indefinitely.
