#52097 tor updated to 0.2.8.7 macports-tickets@… update Normal ports
Description

From the Changelog: https://gitweb.torproject.org/tor.git/plain/ChangeLog

Changes in version 0.2.8.7 - 2016-08-24

Tor 0.2.8.7 fixes an important bug related to the ReachableAddresses option in 0.2.8.6, and replaces a retiring bridge authority. Everyone who sets the ReachableAddresses option, and all bridges, are strongly encouraged to upgrade.

o Directory authority changes:

  • The "Tonga" bridge authority has been retired; the new bridge authority is "Bifroest". Closes tickets 19728 and 19690.

o Major bugfixes (client, security):

  • Only use the ReachableAddresses option to restrict the first hop in a path. In earlier versions of 0.2.8.x, it would apply to every hop in the path, with a possible degradation in anonymity for anyone using an uncommon ReachableAddress setting. Fixes bug 19973; bugfix on 0.2.8.2-alpha.

o Minor features (geoip):

  • Update geoip and geoip6 to the August 2 2016 Maxmind GeoLite2 Country database.

o Minor bugfixes (compilation):

  • Remove an inappropriate "inline" in tortls.c that was causing warnings on older versions of GCC. Fixes bug 19903; bugfix on 0.2.8.1-alpha.

o Minor bugfixes (fallback directories):

  • Avoid logging a NULL string pointer when loading fallback directory information. Fixes bug 19947; bugfix on 0.2.4.7-alpha and 0.2.8.1-alpha. Report and patch by "rubiate".
#52096 tor-devel updated to 0.2.9.2-alpha macports-tickets@… update Normal ports
Description

From the Changelog: https://gitweb.torproject.org/tor.git/plain/ChangeLog

Changes in version 0.2.9.2-alpha - 2016-08-24

Tor 0.2.9.2-alpha continues development of the 0.2.9 series with several new features and bugfixes. It also includes an important authority update and an important bugfix from 0.2.8.7. Everyone who sets the ReachableAddresses option, and all bridges, are strongly encouraged to upgrade to 0.2.8.7, or to 0.2.9.2-alpha.

o Directory authority changes (also in 0.2.8.7):

  • The "Tonga" bridge authority has been retired; the new bridge authority is "Bifroest". Closes tickets 19728 and 19690.

o Major bugfixes (client, security, also in 0.2.8.7):

  • Only use the ReachableAddresses option to restrict the first hop in a path. In earlier versions of 0.2.8.x, it would apply to every hop in the path, with a possible degradation in anonymity for anyone using an uncommon ReachableAddress setting. Fixes bug 19973; bugfix on 0.2.8.2-alpha.

o Major features (user interface):

  • Tor now supports the ability to declare options deprecated, so that we can recommend that people stop using them. Previously, this was done in an ad-hoc way. Closes ticket 19820.

o Major bugfixes (directory downloads):

  • Avoid resetting download status for consensuses hourly, since we already have another, smarter retry mechanism. Fixes bug 8625; bugfix on 0.2.0.9-alpha.

o Minor features (config):

  • Warn users when descriptor and port addresses are inconsistent. Mitigates bug 13953; patch by teor.

o Minor features (geoip):

  • Update geoip and geoip6 to the August 2 2016 Maxmind GeoLite2 Country database.

o Minor features (user interface):

  • There is a new --list-deprecated-options command-line option to list all of the deprecated options. Implemented as part of ticket 19820.

o Minor bugfixes (code style):

  • Fix an integer signedness conversion issue in the case conversion tables. Fixes bug 19168; bugfix on 0.2.1.11-alpha.

o Minor bugfixes (compilation):

  • Build correctly on versions of libevent2 without support for evutil_secure_rng_add_bytes(). Fixes bug 19904; bugfix on 0.2.5.4-alpha.
  • Fix a compilation warning on GCC versions before 4.6. Our ENABLE_GCC_WARNING macro used the word "warning" as an argument, when it is also required as an argument to the compiler pragma. Fixes bug 19901; bugfix on 0.2.9.1-alpha.

o Minor bugfixes (compilation, also in 0.2.8.7):

  • Remove an inappropriate "inline" in tortls.c that was causing warnings on older versions of GCC. Fixes bug 19903; bugfix on 0.2.8.1-alpha.

o Minor bugfixes (fallback directories, also in 0.2.8.7):

  • Avoid logging a NULL string pointer when loading fallback directory information. Fixes bug 19947; bugfix on 0.2.4.7-alpha and 0.2.8.1-alpha. Report and patch by "rubiate".

o Minor bugfixes (logging):

  • Log a more accurate message when we fail to dump a microdescriptor. Fixes bug 17758; bugfix on 0.2.2.8-alpha. Patch from Daniel Pinto.

o Minor bugfixes (memory leak):

  • Fix a series of slow memory leaks related to parsing torrc files and options. Fixes bug 19466; bugfix on 0.2.1.6-alpha.

o Deprecated features:

  • A number of DNS-cache-related sub-options for client ports are now deprecated for security reasons, and may be removed in a future version of Tor. (We believe that client-side DNS cacheing is a bad idea for anonymity, and you should not turn it on.) The options are: CacheDNS, CacheIPv4DNS, CacheIPv6DNS, UseDNSCache, UseIPv4Cache, and UseIPv6Cache.
  • A number of options are deprecated for security reasons, and may be removed in a future version of Tor. The options are: AllowDotExit, AllowInvalidNodes, AllowSingleHopCircuits, AllowSingleHopExits, ClientDNSRejectInternalAddresses, CloseHSClientCircuitsImmediatelyOnTimeout, CloseHSServiceRendCircuitsImmediatelyOnTimeout, ExcludeSingleHopRelays, FastFirstHopPK, TLSECGroup, UseNTorHandshake, and WarnUnsafeSocks.
  • The *ListenAddress options are now deprecated as unnecessary: the corresponding *Port options should be used instead. These options may someday be removed. The affected options are: ControlListenAddress, DNSListenAddress, DirListenAddress, NATDListenAddress, ORListenAddress, SocksListenAddress, and TransListenAddress.

o Documentation:

  • Correct the IPv6 syntax in our documentation for the VirtualAddrNetworkIPv6 torrc option. Closes ticket 19743.

o Removed code:

  • We no longer include the (dead, deprecated) bufferevent code in Tor. Closes ticket 19450. Based on a patch from U+039b.

Debian bug #822717 reports that the bug was fixed in flann-1.8.5 and provides a patch for 1.8.4.

patch on github

ElementType span = abs(point[i]-leaf_point[i]);

It seems p5.24-archive-zip depends on itself via p5.24-test-mockmodule -> p5.24-module-build -> p5.24-archive-zip.

Similarly, p5.24-module-build also depends on itself:

$ sudo port -vs install p5.24-module-build

p5.24-module-build depends on itself via p5.24-archive-zip -> p5.24-test-mockmodule -> p5.24-module-build.

#52053 clang-3.8 @3.8.1_3 Sanitizer self-tests to check sanity jeremyhu@… enhancement Normal ports
Description

The official documentation for some of the clang sanitizers (for example, Thread Sanitizer) only mention Linux as supported. However, the sanitizer is included in the OS X build, and seems to work - in that it seems to detect problems. On the other hand, at least one of those detected problems seems to be a false positive, so I can only wonder.

Given that LLVM and Clang seem to include a lot of self-tests, using them would be a good way to check whether the sanitizers seem useable in OS X.

I have tried building clang-3.8 with MacPorts and jumping in afterwards to run the tests, but it's complicated enough that I don't even know if they are there or need to be checked out and built additionally. I'm hoping that for the maintainers it might be easier to organize.

#52049 lnav opportunistically links with MacPorts curl g5pw@… defect Normal ports
Description

I think some dependency(ies) are missing.

If MacPorts curl is installed with the +http2 variant, then lnav ends up linked with libnghttp2.dylib, though it doesn't declare a dependency on curl or nghttp2:

$ otool -L /opt/local/bin/lnav
/opt/local/bin/lnav:
	/opt/local/lib/libnghttp2.14.dylib (compatibility version 24.0.0, current version 24.0.0)
	/usr/lib/libc++.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 120.1.0)
	/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1226.10.1)

If MacPorts curl is installed without the +http2 variant, lnav doesn't link with libnghttp2.dylib or libcurl.dylib:

/opt/local/bin/lnav:
	/usr/lib/libc++.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 120.1.0)
	/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1226.10.1)

(I don't understand why it doesn't link with MacPorts curl here.)

If MacPorts curl is not installed, lnav uses the macOS version of curl:

/opt/local/bin/lnav:
	/usr/lib/libcurl.4.dylib (compatibility version 7.0.0, current version 8.0.0)
	/usr/lib/libc++.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 120.1.0)
	/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1226.10.1)

But it fails to build on older versions of macOS where the version of curl is too old.

#52011 ds9 does not install on El Capitan aronnax@… defect Normal ports
Description

I'm trying to install the port 'ds9' (common for astronomy) on my Mac OS X El Capitan, but it fails:

[...]
--->  Building ds9
Error: org.macports.build for port ds9 returned: command execution failed
To report a bug, follow the instructions in the guide:
    http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets
Error: Processing of port ds9 failed

There are no other details about why the installation failed. Based on previous tickets, the ds9 port seems to have been an issue for previous Mac OS versions as well.

Is there anything I can do to make this port work?

#52010 qt5-mysql-plugin for MariaDB mcalhoun@… enhancement Normal ports
Description

Does Qt5 support mariadb (5.5) or anything other than mysql 5.6?

The new version of MythTV has adopted Qt5. Previously, my port used qt4-mac-mariadb-plugin to access MariaDB 5.5 as the backend database. I'd like to stay with that so users don't have to do a tricky backup-from-one-version-and-restore-to-another when upgrading.

There does not seem to be a Qt5 equivalent currently. Is this a possible enhancement?

#52007 Tweepy Port out of date; Steaming no longer works due to changes at Twitter devans@… update Normal ports
Description

The tweepy port is very out of date. The current version in the macports repo is 1.12 while the production version 3.5. In the years between the version included with macports and today, twitter updated the streaming api resulting in the old end point being depreciated. So, while this is fixed in current versions of tweepy, it means the macports version of tweepy is now not just old, but broken.

As reported on macports-users, when upgrading from jython 2.5.2 to 2.7.0 there is a conflict with an existing file in jython's package cache that prevents activation.

Analysis by Clemens Lang on the list (for some reason not visible on the web version linked above) is correct:

From the error message if seems that the old jython port didn't install files in /opt/local/share/java/jython/cachedir/packages, but the new version comes with a pre-populated cachedir and now causes these problems if the cache has been generated by other means meanwhile.

I don't know anything about jython, but if somebody more familiar with jython can confirm that this sounds about right, I think I know a way to work around this: Add a pre-activate {} block that deletes these files (since jython should be the only port putting files in this directory if I understand things correctly).

Yeah I know what it says, but I’m afraid to force the activation because I don’t know what else will be affected.

Since these are just cache entries, it should be safe to force activation.

The attached patch addresses the issue.

#51979 demeter @0.9.24: Failed to install libcxx macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports
Description

Installation of Demeter fails and reports "Error: Failed to install libcxx". Following instructions for fetch failures on the problem hotlist, I manually downloaded libcxx-3.7.1_0+universal.darwin_15.i386-x86_64.tbz2 and placed into /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/demeter/. The folder 'demeter' had not been created in /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/ as the problem hotlist indicates that it should have been, and I created it manually. Even after the manual placement of libcxx-3.7.1_0+universal.darwin_15.i386-x86_64.tbz2, the same error is obtained upon attempting installation of demeter.

Yes, I have tried doing a cleaning of the port, installing the port by itself afterwards, and then running "sudo port install wine" again. This didn't help. Doing a selfupdate/update outdated didn't make a difference either.

If I could have some help with this that would be great.

#51947 py26-dateutil: recent retirement breaks remaining dependents blair@… defect Normal ports
Description

The recent retirement of py26-dateutil along with many other py26 subports appears to be a bit premature as there are still a few other subports remaining that depend on it, to wit:

  • py26-google-apputils (dependent of py26-dateutil) (devans)
  • py26-protobuf (dependent of py26-google-apputils) (blair)

py26-protobuf has no futher dependents so I'm proposing to just remove these two remaining py26 subports that are now broken rather than restoring py26-dateutil. Assigning this to blair for his approval. Any objections?

I tried to explicitly set a python from MacPorts, but that didn't really help.

Unrelated (and to be put in a separate ticket eventually): I believe that the port should do some reinplace and use the Python interpreter provided by MacPorts if you want to rely on existence of pyqt.

root@nopileos~# otool -L /opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.7/lib/libLTO.dylib
/opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.7/lib/libLTO.dylib:
	/opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.7/lib/libLTO.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0)
	/opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.7/lib/libLLVM-3.7.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0)
	[...]

llvm-3.7's libLTO has compat version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0.

root@nopileos~# otool -L /opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.8/lib/libLTO.dylib
/opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.8/lib/libLTO.dylib:
	@rpath/libLTO.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 3.8.1)
	@rpath/libLLVM.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 3.8.1)
	[...]

llvm-3.8's libLTO changed the compat version to 1.0.0 and the current version to 3.8.1.

root@nopileos~# otool -L /opt/local/libexec/ld64/ld
/opt/local/libexec/ld64/ld:
	@executable_path/../lib/libLTO.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 3.8.1)
	[...]

And the binary installed by ld64-latest (and symlinked via ld64) needs compat version 1.0.0.

clang-3.7 invokes /opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.7/bin/ld, so the expanded path to the library through @executable_path is /opt/local/libexec/llvm-3.7/lib/libLTO.dylib, which has (see above) a lower compat version of 0.0.0.

Breakage.

A fix might be to not use @executable_path, but rewrite the libLTO library dependency to always use the libLTO library as installed by the selected llvm*-variant version.

I haven't looked at the source code and how difficult that would be, though.

#51925 hdf5-18 @1.8.16 Cannot use environment variable HDF5_ROOT_DIR takeshi@… enhancement Normal ports
Description

Due to the switch to hdf5 @1.10.0, my software crashes (this hdf5 version has some bugs).

The port hdf5-18 @1.8.16 fixes the problem, but moves all the dependencies to /opt/local/include/hdf5-18/ and /opt/local/lib/hdf5-18/. It turns out that a few programs use the environment variable HDF5_ROOT_DIR, which here points to /opt/local. It is used to point the compiler to $HDF5_ROOT_DIR/include and $HDF5_ROOT_DIR/lib.

Of course, this does not work anymore because this would mean changing all my makefiles to $HDF5_ROOT_DIR/include/hdf5-18 and $HDF5_ROOT_DIR/lib/hdf5-18. This is not portable, thus I cannot make use anymore of this environment variable.

I believe it would make more sense to have the hdf5-18 include and lib directories inside another single directory such as /opt/local/hdf5-18/, but I am not sure this is very good practice. In any case, the current implementation does not look workable for me.

Thanks

#51923 Pytables fails to create hdf5 table mmoll@… defect Normal ports
Description

I first tried to create an hdf5 table using pandas. But, that failed. So, I went to pytables instead, and that also fails with a similar error. I'm using py27-tables @3.2.2_2 which is using hdf5 @1.10.0_1 Here is a simple example, grabbed from the pytables web page

>>> import tables
>>> from tables import *
>>> h5file = open_file("tutorial1.h5", mode = "w", title = "Test file")
>>> group = h5file.create_group("/", 'detector', 'Detector information')
>>> class Particle(IsDescription):
...     name      = StringCol(16)
...     idnumber  = Int64Col()      #
...     ADCcount  = UInt16Col()     # Unsigned
...
>>> table = h5file.create_table(group, 'readout', Particle, "Readout example")
