#43374 unable to upgrade gmp (and other ports) macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by jeff@…, 10 hours ago.

Description

I seem to be running into this on many ports when trying to upgrade them. The download takes a few hops to find a hit, then tries to install and fails on a missing /usr/bin/gnutar.

This seems to have occurred after installing the latest XCode command-line tools. /usr/bin/gnutar no longer exists.

selfupdate hasn't provided a fix.

Description

When installing git-core with the svn variant, the Perl ReadKey.pm package is not installed. This manifests itself as an error when using git-svn if SVN prompts for credentials:

#43350 mpich and openmpi shouldn't have compilers as only build-time dependencies sean@… defect Normal ports

Reported by dstrubbe@…, 3 days ago.

Description

These ports list the compiler used (e.g. gcc48) as a build dependency. This doesn't seem sufficient: the compiler wrappers will not work if that port is uninstalled. I think it needs to be a runtime dependency.

For mpich-default @3.1_0+gcc48, I deactivated gcc48 and then:

$ mpif90-mpich-mp test.f90
gfortran-mp-4.8: error trying to exec 'f951': execvp: No such file or directory

For openmpi-default @1.7.5_0+gcc45, I deactivated gcc45 and then:

$ mpif90-openmpi-mp test.f90
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Open MPI wrapper compiler was unable to find the specified compiler
/opt/local/bin/gfortran-mp-4.5 in your PATH.

Note that this compiler was either specified at configure time or in
one of several possible environment variables.

ATLAS is installed as:

Not sure if this could be due to compiler mismatch. I CC Vince as atlas maintainer as well.

#43320 readline @6.3.003 configures for i386 on a 10.5.8. PPC mcalhoun@… defect Normal ports

Reported by braumann@…, 6 days ago.

Cross compiling? I only expected a native build for ppc.

I guess this can be fixed. In the mean time should I work around by means of a universal install?

The release notes for this version are as follows:

This is a security-critical bugfix release which remains API and ABI backwards-compatible to version 2.0.

Users who decompress JBIG data from untrusted sources should upgrade.

It fixes a buffer overflow vulnerability in the jbig.c decoder (CVE-2013-6369), a bug in the way jbig.c processes the option
DPPRIV=1 (not usually used in practice), and the ability of a specially-crafted input file to force the jbig85.c decoder into
an endless loop.

#43305 Upgrade OpenSSL Not Working macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by anthrotech@…, 7 days ago.

Description

When I try to upgrade openssl (sudo upgrade openssl), I get the following message:

---> Scanning binaries for linking errors: 100.0%
--->  No broken files found.

openssl not updated. Still at @1.0.1f_0.

I have tried to deactivate and uninstall openssl, but there are too many dependencies.

How can I upgrade to openssl @1.0.1g without uninstalling everything and installing ports agin.

Brew is looking better everyday. :(

I am using Macports version: MacPorts 2.2.1.

I did run selfupdate yesterday.

Any suggestions would be great.

#43297 bitcoin - adopt mainstream binaries easieste@… enhancement Normal ports

Reported by and.damore@…, 7 days ago.

Description

This document explains a rationale about using only official Bitcoin images in order to provide a coherent set of clients.

Due the delicate nature of bitcoin software, potentially affecting users' money in a direct way, this should be taken in consideration.

Two scenarios that come to mind about how to approach this are:

  • disable the port at all and print out a message redirecting the users to official binary packages;
  • fetch the binary and signed official package and create the MacPorts package from that.

The latter solution keeps the advantage of using a package manager (install, uninstall, upgrade) while giving away the actual build part.

Please provide your thoughts.

#43289 OSX Mavericks upgrade causes darcs build to fail macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by rene.sugar@…, 8 days ago.

Description

An upgrade to OS X Mavericks causes build of darcs to fail. This problem also causes several other Haskell components to fail to build.

You get an error about not being able to find <sys/cdefs.h>.

The solution is to reinstall the XCode command-line tools.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19649421/something-odd-happened-to-c-11-in-mavericks

“OSX Mavericks upgrade will wipe out a number of XCode installation directories. In order to restore them, you need to reinstall the XCode command-line tools.

xcode-select --install”

“Problem Hotlist” could mention “xcode-select —install” solution or “port” could check if "/usr/include/sys/cdefs.h" is not found on OS X Mavericks and remind user to reinstall XCode command-line tools.

#43271 gtk3 @3.12.0 description grammar cal@… defect Low ports

Reported by dstrubbe@…, 9 days ago.

Description

The long description is: "GTK+ is a highly usable, feature rich toolkit for creating graphical user interfaces which boasts cross platform compatibility and an easy to use API. GTK+ it is written in C, but has bindings to many other popular programming languages such as C++, Python and C# among others."

The extra word "it" is particularly glaring, but some fixes to commas and hyphenation would be beneficial too. Corrected version:

"GTK+ is a highly usable, feature-rich toolkit for creating graphical user interfaces, which boasts cross-platform compatibility and an easy-to-use API. GTK+ is written in C, but has bindings to many other popular programming languages, such as C++, Python and C#, among others."

#43250 Summary of a update all ports at the end macports-tickets@… enhancement Normal base

Reported by lagrave+bugs+macosforge.org@…, 11 days ago.

Description

I just run an update all ports (and it is, after six hours, not finished). So far it has generated 2836 lines of output, without verbose output being enabled.

A couple of times during these six hours/3000 lines there has been output such as

To use bash_completion, add the following lines at the end of your .bash_profile:
  if [ -f /opt/local/etc/profile.d/bash_completion.sh ]; then
      . /opt/local/etc/profile.d/bash_completion.sh
  fi
The port bash-completion >=2.0 requires bash >=4.1; please make sure
you are using /opt/local/bin/bash by changing the preferences of your
terminal accordingly. If your version of bash is too old, the script
above will not modify your shell environment and no extended completion
will be available.

I guess I don't need to explain why it is easy to fail to notice this, usually quite important and useful, information.

I think all information like this should be output (repeated) at the end of install, upgrade, whatever process so I know how to activate bash completions, select which version of Python to use etc.

#43247 New port: lbzip2 macports-tickets@… submission Normal ports

Description

This was mentioned on the mailing lists here: https://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-users/2014-April/035115.html

Portfile is attached, it passes both port -v lint --nitpick and port test. I currently left it as nomaintainer in case someone else wanted to maintain it, but if no one else wants to, I would be willing to maintain it with openmaintainer.

(cc-ing raimue because he was the one to bring it up on the mailing list)

#43241 gnumeric build fails c.herbig@… defect Normal ports

Reported by jwhowse4@…, 11 days ago.

Description

I am using an Intel Mac Pro running Mac OS 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) with XCode 5.1.0. After the recent upgrade to perl 5.16.3, macports tried to rebuild gnumeric due to a link failure to the old perl version. This build failed with the attached error log. When I looked into the failure I realized that the gnumeric portfile had been updated on 3/31/14. When I replaced that portfile with the previous portfile, the gnumeric build succeeds. Apparently the autoreconf is breaking the build on my system. I have attached the successful portfile as postfile.success and the failed portfile as portfile.failure.

#43235 Can't build dbus with Macports 2.2.1 on Snow Leopard mcalhoun@… defect Normal ports

Reported by ptmkenny@…, 11 days ago.

Description

I have a clean install of Snow Leopard to which I have applied all the latest patches through software update.

I then installed Macports 2.2.1 and attempted to install qt4-mac, for which dbus is a dependency. However, I'm getting an error when I try to build dbus.

I tried to re-install by using "sudo port clean dbus" and then "sudo port install dbus" but I got the same error, which is captured in main.log (attached to this post).

I also tried updating Macports to 2.3.0-beta1 but I got the same error.

#43221 sysdig @0.1.72: change the parts of the description that mention the linux kernel to describe how it works on darwin macports-tickets@… enhancement Normal ports

Reported by egall@…, 12 days ago.

Description

As it stands, darwin does not currently have the linux kernel facilities that the sysdig Portfile mentions in its long_description. Either this part of the description should be changed for darwin, or the "platforms" field should have "linux" added to it so that the description could then just have a phrase like "when run on linux, ..." or something added to it before the linux-specific stuff.

This is the typical intltool mis-configuration issue that can occur when ports are pre-configured with a stock version of intltool.m4 instead of the MacPorts patched version.

The attached patch fixes this problem by using autoreconf to re-configure using our intltool.m4 and updating build dependencies as necessary.

#43216 gtk3: update to version 3.12.0 cal@… update Normal ports

Reported by devans@…, 12 days ago.

Description

I know you're working on this but attached is a patch that I have been using in testing of the GNOME 3.12.0 upgrades. Note in particular that it is necessary to explicitly disable the cloudprint backend to avoid opportunistic configuration that results in a circular dependency loop.

Hope this is of some help.

#43202 macports.tcl: doesn't reset user if svn fails cal@… defect Normal MacPorts Future base

Reported by mojca@…, 13 days ago.

Description

When svn fails to sync the ports (in my case that's because it doesn't accept the certificate), rsync continues to run as a local user. I'm attaching an example of a patch, but please check it carefully first as I don't have no experience messing up with base.

Maybe something similar is needed at other places as well.

(The patch is against trunk, but it would be nice to fix this for 2.3.0 as well.)

Description

This patch also removes the dependency on muparser that is included in LibreCAD The reason for doing this is because of bug in muparser that doesn't process locales correctly. The included version of muparser is this fix attached. We will be removing muparser from LibreCAD once this patch has been applied by the muparser folks.

I believe it's related to this : https://code.google.com/p/muparser/issues/detail?id=1

#43180 distfiles aren't getting mirrored wsiegrist@… defect Normal server/hosting

Reported by GregoryEAllen@…, 2 weeks ago.

Description

sqlite3 was recently updated to 3.8.4.2
r118317

However, sqlite-autoconf-3080402.tar.gz has not made it into the distfile mirrors.
i.e. http://distfiles.macports.org/sqlite3/

It appears that sqlite-autoconf-3080402.tar.gz is only available from http://www.sqlite.org/2014

Note this is not the case with sqlite-autoconf-3080401.tar.gz

I can manually work around this issue, but it breaks private mirrors for organizations that use MacPorts without direct internet access.
