#43441 gtk2: add bundle variant macports-tickets@… enhancement Normal ports

Reported by help@…, 37 hours ago.

Description

GTK2 has to be built with --enable-quartz-relocation configure flag to be able to work when included in application bundle. Unfortunately it's not compatible with operation as usual installation so it can't enabled by default. Attached patch adds new variant called "bundle" for this feature. When activated it prints a warning.

Consider changing the dovecot2 port so it builds dynamic loadable modules instead of pulling in OpenSSL statically to avoid Heartbleed going by unnoticed and unpatched in dovecot2 for more than a week the next time a similar security bug is found in OpenSSL. I'm attaching a patch the the dovecot2 Portfile that does that.

make[4]: *** [install-data-hook] Error 1

The Makefile erroneously assumes it has permission to alter files in the prefix, but MacPorts prohibits that; it may only alter files in the workpath.

This problem probably affects all users with default settings on Mountain Lion and earlier. I didn't see this problem on my Mavericks system when updating the port, because the Makefile only tries to remove .la files, and MacPorts base by default automatically removes all .la files after destroot on Mavericks and later, so there was nothing for the Makefile to remove.

The buildbots didn't see the problem because they never do upgrades; they always do fresh installs with no existing ports installed.

#43384 cyassl @2.9.4: universal variant fails chris@… defect Normal ports

Reported by ryandesign@…, 7 days ago.

Description

Building cyassl with the +universal variant fails. The first problem I see in the log is:

ld: warning: ignoring file src/.libs/src_libcyassl_la-internal.o, file was built for unsupported file format ( 0xCF 0xFA 0xED 0xFE 0x07 0x00 0x00 0x01 0x03 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x01 0x00 0x00 0x00 ) which is not the architecture being linked (i386): src/.libs/src_libcyassl_la-internal.o

This suggests -arch flags aren't being used in all cases.

Disabling silent rules would make it easier to see what flags are being used for each compile/link.

The build succeeds if I don't use the universal variant.

APCu contains the user-level cache functionality from APC.

PHP 5.5 brings its own opcode cache implementation. For a (hopefully) seamless migration, users can install APCu to get the user-level cache functionality not provided by the PHP 5.5 core.

This is my first Portfile and based on php-apc. I hope it's not too bad...

#43374 unable to upgrade gmp (and other ports) macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by jeff@…, 7 days ago.

Description

I seem to be running into this on many ports when trying to upgrade them. The download takes a few hops to find a hit, then tries to install and fails on a missing /usr/bin/gnutar.

This seems to have occurred after installing the latest XCode command-line tools. /usr/bin/gnutar no longer exists.

selfupdate hasn't provided a fix.

#43351 tmux @1.9a; wrong file is copied to vim's ftdetect, breaking vim syntax ryandesign@… defect Normal ports

Reported by vergus@…, 9 days ago.

Description

The wrong file is being written to /opt/local/share/vim/vimfiles/ftdetect/tmux.vim . What is currently being written is a copy of the syntax file located at: /opt/local/share/vim/vimfiles/syntax/tmux.vim. What should be writtent to that file is:

autocmd BufNewFile,BufRead {.,}tmux.conf{.*,} setlocal filetype=tmux

As it is, this breaks syntax for EVERY file that does not have a filetype (e.g. anything without an extension- README, etc.).

#43350 mpich and openmpi shouldn't have compilers as only build-time dependencies sean@… defect Normal ports

Reported by dstrubbe@…, 9 days ago.

Description

These ports list the compiler used (e.g. gcc48) as a build dependency. This doesn't seem sufficient: the compiler wrappers will not work if that port is uninstalled. I think it needs to be a runtime dependency.

For mpich-default @3.1_0+gcc48, I deactivated gcc48 and then:

$ mpif90-mpich-mp test.f90
gfortran-mp-4.8: error trying to exec 'f951': execvp: No such file or directory

For openmpi-default @1.7.5_0+gcc45, I deactivated gcc45 and then:

$ mpif90-openmpi-mp test.f90
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Open MPI wrapper compiler was unable to find the specified compiler
/opt/local/bin/gfortran-mp-4.5 in your PATH.

Note that this compiler was either specified at configure time or in
one of several possible environment variables.

Why does the librsvg have a dependency on gtk3? Personally all I need it for is gtk2, and it certainly doesn't need gtk3 to compile for itself. Can this dependency be removed?

#43326 osh @20131109: update to 20140410 ryandesign@… update Normal ports

Reported by jan+mp@…, 12 days ago.

Description

Hello,

This update syncs the osh port with the latest upstream release. The attached patch is against shells/osh/Portfile r115116 . Also, it fixes a problem where MacPorts CFLAGS and LDFLAGS, used to specify build arch, partially override the CFLAGS and LDFLAGS specified in the osh Makefile. This results in building without compiler optimization, option, and warning flags.

Thanks, Jeffrey Allen Neitzel

#43325 CyaSSL 2.9.4 Version Bump ryandesign@… update Normal ports

Reported by chris@…, 12 days ago.

Description

Attached is a Portfile patch to update to the current version of CyaSSL, 2.9.4.

Along with a version bump, it expands the list of default options enabled, removes the "dtls" variant (as it is now enabled by default), and removes the clang blacklist. The cyassl port should now compile with either clang or gcc.

Version 2.9.4 of CyaSSL includes important security fixes along with other bug fixes and feature enhancements (ref: http://yassl.com/yaSSL/Blog/Entries/2014/4/9_CyaSSL_2.9.4_Released.html)

I guess this can be fixed. In the mean time should I work around by means of a universal install?

#43308 jbigkit security update to version 2.1 ryandesign@… update Normal ports

Reported by mschamschula@…, 2 weeks ago.

Description

I've updated jbigkit to @2.1.

The release notes for this version are as follows:

This is a security-critical bugfix release which remains API and ABI backwards-compatible to version 2.0.

Users who decompress JBIG data from untrusted sources should upgrade.

It fixes a buffer overflow vulnerability in the jbig.c decoder (CVE-2013-6369), a bug in the way jbig.c processes the option
DPPRIV=1 (not usually used in practice), and the ability of a specially-crafted input file to force the jbig85.c decoder into
an endless loop.

Description

When I try to upgrade openssl (sudo upgrade openssl), I get the following message:

---> Scanning binaries for linking errors: 100.0%

openssl not updated. Still at @1.0.1f_0.

I have tried to deactivate and uninstall openssl, but there are too many dependencies.

How can I upgrade to openssl @1.0.1g without uninstalling everything and installing ports agin.

Brew is looking better everyday. :(

I am using Macports version: MacPorts 2.2.1.

I did run selfupdate yesterday.

Any suggestions would be great.

#43297 bitcoin - adopt mainstream binaries easieste@… enhancement Normal ports

Reported by and.damore@…, 2 weeks ago.

Description

This document explains a rationale about using only official Bitcoin images in order to provide a coherent set of clients.

Due the delicate nature of bitcoin software, potentially affecting users' money in a direct way, this should be taken in consideration.

Two scenarios that come to mind about how to approach this are:

  • disable the port at all and print out a message redirecting the users to official binary packages;
  • fetch the binary and signed official package and create the MacPorts package from that.

The latter solution keeps the advantage of using a package manager (install, uninstall, upgrade) while giving away the actual build part.

Please provide your thoughts.

#43289 OSX Mavericks upgrade causes darcs build to fail macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by rene.sugar@…, 2 weeks ago.

Description

An upgrade to OS X Mavericks causes build of darcs to fail. This problem also causes several other Haskell components to fail to build.

You get an error about not being able to find <sys/cdefs.h>.

The solution is to reinstall the XCode command-line tools.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19649421/something-odd-happened-to-c-11-in-mavericks

“OSX Mavericks upgrade will wipe out a number of XCode installation directories. In order to restore them, you need to reinstall the XCode command-line tools.

xcode-select --install”

“Problem Hotlist” could mention “xcode-select —install” solution or “port” could check if "/usr/include/sys/cdefs.h" is not found on OS X Mavericks and remind user to reinstall XCode command-line tools.

#43271 gtk3 @3.12.0 description grammar cal@… defect Low ports

Reported by dstrubbe@…, 2 weeks ago.

Description

The long description is: "GTK+ is a highly usable, feature rich toolkit for creating graphical user interfaces which boasts cross platform compatibility and an easy to use API. GTK+ it is written in C, but has bindings to many other popular programming languages such as C++, Python and C# among others."

The extra word "it" is particularly glaring, but some fixes to commas and hyphenation would be beneficial too. Corrected version:

"GTK+ is a highly usable, feature-rich toolkit for creating graphical user interfaces, which boasts cross-platform compatibility and an easy-to-use API. GTK+ is written in C, but has bindings to many other popular programming languages, such as C++, Python and C#, among others."
