#45359 octave-signal 1.3.0 macports-tickets@… update Normal ports

Reported by mschamschula@…, 7 months ago.

Description

octave-signal has been updated to version 1.3.0.

#33572 octave-signal: Missing oct file for upfirdn macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by MacPorts@…, 3 years ago.

Description

The signal-1.0.10 package (the latest) does not include the upfirdn.oct file, made from upfirdn.cc in the Octave Forge source. I discovered this by trying to run resample.m which is included (and which tries to call upfirdn).

#35904 octave-signal: update to 1.1.3 macports-tickets@… update Normal ports

Reported by bobm.dsp@…, 3 years ago.

Description

When trying to build octave-signal on Mountain Lion I get this error:

--->  Activating octave-signal @1.0.10_0
Error: org.macports.activate for port octave-signal returned: command execution failed

Also, the version is not the latest (1.1.3), and past versions did not work with octave-devel. Now that octave-devel has been updated/fixed, request is for octave-signal to be updated/fixed.

#37747 octave-statistics fails to build under octave-devel macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by urilabob@…, 2 years ago.

Description

Compilation error in anovan.m

#33905 octave-statistics installs nothing macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by carmine.maffei@…, 3 years ago.

Description

After installing octave-devel, I needed the statistics package, so I installed octave-statistics successfully (no error reported), but the package is not installed, as a simple inspection in octave shows:

octave:1> pkg list
Package Name | Version | Installation directory
---------------+---------+-----------------------
miscellaneous *|   1.0.9 | /opt/local/share/octave/packages/miscellaneous-1.0.9

Note that sudo port contents octave-statistics shows:

Port octave-statistics contains:
  /opt/local/share/octave/octave_packages_octave-statistics

which is an empty file.

#26340 octave-strings: octave_packages: no such file or directory macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by matthias@…, 5 years ago.

Description

If I try to install octave packages (e.g. octave-strings), I get the following:

---------------------------------
sudo port install octave-strings
Password:
--->  Computing dependencies for octave-strings
--->  Staging octave-strings into destroot
Error: Target org.macports.destroot returned: error renaming "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_math_octave-strings/work/destroot/opt/local/share/octave/octave_packages": no such file or directory
Log for octave-strings is at: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_math_octave-strings/main.log
Error: Status 1 encountered during processing.
To report a bug, see <http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets>
---------------------------------

I have no clue what's going on, but I believe something is not configured the way it should be (either with Octave itself, or with the packages).

#30301 Octave-Symbolic 1.0.9 error michaelld@… defect Normal ports

Reported by mbrethen@…, 4 years ago.

Description

Octave 3.2.4 is installed on my machine, mac os x 10.6.8 (snow leopard) using the MacPorts distribution. I'm interested in doing some symbolic calculations. A portfile doesn't exist for the symbolic pkg, so I loaded the pkg in octave with the following warnings:

octave:1> pkg install ~/Downloads/symbolic-1.0.9.tar.gz
octave_help_OlwdEG:16: Misplaced {.
octave_help_OlwdEG:16: Misplaced }.
warning: gen_doc_cache: unusable help text in 'poly2sym'. Ignoring function.
octave_help_puO7Lr:17: Misplaced {.
octave_help_puO7Lr:17: Misplaced }.
warning: gen_doc_cache: unusable help text in 'sym2poly'. Ignoring function.

To start I attempted to declare some symbols, at which point octave gave the following error message:

octave:1> symbols
octave:2> x = sym("x")
octave(95278) malloc: *** error for object 0x7fff70f01500: pointer being freed was not allocated
*** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug
panic: Abort trap -- stopping myself...
attempting to save variables to `octave-core'...
save to `octave-core' complete
Abort trap

I don't know if this is related to the warning message above. It could also be that the libraries included with version 3.2.3 (I'm assuming that this applies to 3.2.4 as well) are 32bit. The attached readme describes a patch that needs to be applied (I couldn't tell from the octave portfile, if this patch is applied) the following patch

#47527 octave-symbolic @2.1.0_0: update to 2.2.0 macports-tickets@… update Normal ports

Reported by mschamschula@…, 6 days ago.

Description

octave-symbolic has been updated to version 2.2.0:

 * New commands:

          catalan
          eulergamma
          lambertw

  * Installing symbolic package now check for Python and minimum
    version of SymPy (thanks Carnë Draug for autoconf).
  * Installations from Octave-Forge ("pkg install -forge symbolic")
    should now work on Windows (thanks vassbu). You will need the
    Python and SymPy dependencies. Or you can use the [bundled
    package](https://github.com/cbm755/octsympy/releases)
  * Added support for Python 3 (still works with Python 2 as well).
  * Documentation improvements especially to assumptions. Examples
    within documentation can now be tested with doctests, see the
    `octsympy_doctests.m` function.
  * Other bug fixes: assumptions; symvar and symbolic matrix powers;
    various display issues.

#46516 octave-tsa @4.2.7: ignored errors during build mschamschula@… defect Normal ports

Reported by ryandesign@…, 4 months ago.

Description

The following errors are printed while building octave-tsa 4.2.7, though they don't prevent the build from completing:

ls: /usr/local/MATLAB: No such file or directory
ls: /usr/local/MATLAB/R*: No such file or directory
ls: /usr/local/MATLAB/R*: No such file or directory
make: /bin/mexext: Command not found
ls: /usr/local/MATLAB/R*: No such file or directory
make: /bin/mexext: Command not found

It seems wrong that the port would be looking for anything in /usr/local.

#45210 Octave: unexpected termination after hitting ctrl-c (Octave v3.8.2, OSX10.9.5) michaelld@… defect Normal ports

Reported by mike@…, 7 months ago.

Description

I just installed Octave 3.8.2 on OSX 10.9.5 succesfully. However, now that it is installed, Octave unexpectedly terminates every time I hit control-c. This is the error I get:

libc++abi.dylib: terminating with uncaught exception of type octave_interrupt_exception

I'm hoping this is easily fixed, but it means that my command history and variables are deleted every time. Not the end of the world in most cases, but since I don't exactly write perfect code, it will be pretty inconvenient most of the time.

#22948 odcctools 20061117_0 is incompatible with building tcl 8.5.8 macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by stephen@…, 5 years ago.

Description

When building Tcl, the build fails because of a duplicate definition of an enumeration. I worked around it by adding an #ifndef like this to /opt/local/include/mach-o/arch.h:

#ifndef _ARCHITECTURE_BYTE_ORDER_H_
enum NXByteOrder {
  NX_UnknownByteOrder,
  NX_LittleEndian,
  NX_BigEndian
};
#endif

This prevents that definition from conflicting with an identical definition in /usr/include/architecture/byte_order.h, and with that in place the build completes successfully.

Given the apparent age of what is presumably the current MacPorts release of odcctools, I guess it's (nearly) unused, obsolete, and deprecated. ISTR having removed it before, but G95 depends on it, and I guess it got pulled back in that way.

It might be preferable to do

#ifndef _ARCHITECTURE_BYTE_ORDER_H_
#error You probably ought to remove odcctools before building anything else!
#endif

as heaven only knows what other damage that ancient musty code might be doing....

#22042 odcctools doesn't build on Snow Leopard macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by mike@…, 6 years ago.

Description

I'm trying to build g95 on my Mac Pro running Snow Leopard using the latest ports revision (59318). I svn checked out the trunk of the ports repository and I'm using that for my build platform. Below is a text log what happens during a "port -v install g95". The error doesn't actually occur in the g95 build, but on the odcctools port upon which g95 depends.

Thanks!

[Beast:/opt/mports/trunk] mike% sudo port -v install g95

#21346 odcctools fails to build on Snow Leopard (tar: Option --strip-path=1 is not supported) macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by stefan.janecek@…, 6 years ago.

Description

I am trying to build odcctools on SL (fresh install of MacPorts 1.8), and it fails with the following error:

--->  Extracting odcctools
Error: Target org.macports.extract returned: shell command "cd /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_devel_odcctools/work/odcctools && ./extract.sh " returned error 1
Command output: tar: Option --strip-path=1 is not supported

The script extract.sh in the build directory contains the lines

if [ "`tar --help | grep -- --strip-components 2> /dev/null`" ]; then
    TARSTRIP=--strip-components
else
    TARSTRIP=--strip-path
fi

The problem is that the output of "tar --help" doesn't contain the text "--strip-components", yet the correct option *is* --strip-components, --strip-path is not recognized.

As you can see above, it's replacing ${workpath}/${name} with odcctools twice in the name. I've verified this below:

I tried editing the portfile line 35:
system "patch -p0 -d ${workpath}/${name} -i ${filespath}/patch-extract.sh"

I've changed the -d to ${workpath/odcctools and it does that same thing, I've changed it to ${workpath} and it gives an error with no odcctools directory appended (/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_devel_odcctools/work) I've changed it to name and it gives just plain odcctools once, but some reason it keeps spitting out odcctools twice in the default configuration and also replacing ${name} with the odcctools.

This is on leopard 10.5.8. I'm trying to install odcctools to troubleshoot a g95 problem with some custom code.

#24864 odcctools needs deactivation before upgrade macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by stephen@…, 5 years ago.

Description
MacPorts tree from svn (2010-05-10 update)
port last build ca. 4/1
Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger)
Hardware PPC (iBook G4)

I needed to explicitly deactivate odcctools before upgrading. The immediate problem is that odcctools installs /opt/local/include/mach-o/loader.h, which apparently has been upgraded recently (for values of "recent" = "since @20061117_0"). The symptom is warnings and errors in libstuff/bytesex.c about several structs being declared in function argument lists.

#23580 odcctools: update to support LTO macports-tickets@… update Normal ports

Reported by macports@…, 5 years ago.

Description

To enable -O4 and -flto link time optimization in clang and llvm-gcc we need a linker with support for llvm bitcode. Newer versions of the ld64 linker (>=v77) can be configured to include such support through libLTO.dylib. The recent release of odcctools-20090808 comes bundled with ld64 v85. Updating the odcctools port would be very helpful, see #19679.

Note that the latest source releases v95 through v96.5 of ld64 are known to be incomplete and wont work.

#32302 OGRE (Object-Oriented Graphics Rendering Engine) Static Port macports-tickets@… submission Normal ports

Reported by marin.saric@…, 3 years ago.

Description

This is a ground-up rework of OGRE port designed to deploy static binaries on MacOS X in a similar fashion to the Linux port. This port is not a variant of the existing Ogre port; it includes major changes to the build system and a re-work to make it function much more like its Linux counterpart.

This is currently the only version of OGRE for MacOS X that allows the user to run the tutorial code on the OGRE website and the only version of OGRE for MacOS X which runs the Sample code under a static build.

It is also by far the easiest version to install and get started in. There are many fixes to the CMakefiles and Find*.cmake macros to enable small CMakeLists.txt projects that work using a simple cmake/make invocation.

There is a README file and the tutorial code from the OGRE website has been adapted to run on MacOS X. This required including a separate Cocoa-based module, since the OGRE MacOS X port is missing the required Cocoa-driving code.

It is currently impossible to install both ogre and ogre-static, since OGRE header files and the library behavior by design changes if a static build is active.

Static binary support was introduced to OGRE relatively recently. Unlike the MacOS X version on the OGRE website and the OGRE version currently in MacPorts, ogre-static (this version) builds using only CMake, without any explicit reliance on XCode. It is designed to produce simple executables that do not depend on any libraries other than the most basic MacOS X system frameworks (this can be verified with otool -L). In a source-based distribution like MacPorts, a dynamically linked variant of Ogre offers very few advantages and many possible pitfalls once a MacPorts-based application needs to be deployed.

This OGRE port has been successfully used in a scientific application that also uses OpenCV and runs inside MATLAB that has been deployed on Linux without any code changes.

The aim of this port is to become officially supported by the OGRE project. Once it is available in MacPorts, the maintainer will contact the OGRE developer community for feedback and enhancement requests.

#33116 ois: also install OIS.pc file ryandesign@… enhancement Normal ports

Reported by raskolnikov@…, 3 years ago.

Description

The port should install the OIS.pc file that is generated by the source package makefiles to the /opt/local/lib/pkgconfig files such that other programs can automatically detect the presence and configuration for the library, however, the current portfile does not install it.

#42603 okular @4.12.2: Unable to find the Okular component nicos@… defect Normal ports

Reported by leandroal@…, 14 months ago.

Description

I use macports in Mavericks and until yesterday everything was working great, but today I tried to open Okular and an error occur: "Unable to find the Okular component". I uninstalled all installed ports, and macports. Then, I reinstalled everything again, no luck. In my last tentative, I also remove all the directory KDE in /Library/Preferences.

Any suggestion? When I try to run Okular on the terminal, I get "okular[6024:507] modalSession has been exited prematurely - check for a reentrant call to endModalSession:"

In both case, an empty window is shown up after I press ok button of the alert "Unable to find the Okular component".

For reference:
/Applications/MacPorts/KDE4/okular.app/Contents/MacOS/okular --version
Qt: 4.8.5
KDE Development Platform: 4.12.2
Okular: 0.18.2

Things that I remember that I did before this problem: Installed vlc +atlas+docs+gcc48, installed octave and rename computer name
Any clue? I also made sure that the plist files are loaded

#46183 okular @4.13.3_0 Cannot open files directly from the command line nicos@… defect Normal ports

Reported by dsfrancis03@…, 5 months ago.

Description

Hello,

I have a Late 2008 15" Macbook Pro. I recently installed Yosemite (clean install) on my Macbook and also installed kde4-kile through macports 2.3.3. The installations of all the related ports seemed fine except for two ports, okular @4.13.3_0 and kde4-kile @2.1.3_1. In this post, I'd like to discuss my problem regarding okular.

If I open okular first and then open a file from File - Open menu, then okular opens the file with no problem. However, if I try to open a file using okular from kile, or if I try to open a file using okular from the command line (e.g, '/Applications/MacPorts/KDE4/okular.app/Contents/MacOS/okular abc.pdf'), then okular fails to open the file. Here is the error message:

okular(609)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
okular(609)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
okular(609)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
okular(609)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
okular(609)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig:
KCrash: Application 'okular' crashing...
KCrash: Attempting to start  directly
KCrash failed to exec(), errno = 2

And, here are more about okular:

$ /Applications/MacPorts/KDE4/okular.app/Contents/MacOS/okular --version
Qt: 4.8.6
KDE Development Platform: 4.13.3
Okular: 0.19.3

Please help me solve this issue and let me know if more information is needed.

I have another issue regarding kile, which doesn't open a file by drag-and-drop, and I'll probably open a new ticket later. But, before I open a new ticket, if anyone is familiar with this issue, please advise.

#34874 okular @4.8.3 - failing to open Document Archive nicos@… enhancement Normal ports

Reported by jan.deluxe@…, 3 years ago.

Description

Hello,

I observed that okular failes to open the "Document Archive" filetype one can create from within the application by selecting "File -> Export As -> Document Archive".

The error message presented by okular is "Could not open /Path/to/file.ext" (where /Path/to/file.ext is an arbitrary filename). The message being displayed in Console.app reads

okular(1263)/okular (app) Okular::Document::openDocument: No plugin for mimetype '"application/zip"'.

This format is used to exchange pdf documents with annotations created by okular between okular users.

However, okular.app is able to produce that filetype following the procedure mentioned above and it opens fine using okular on a linux box.

I think providing the ability to read .okular files would be a great enhancement for users working with pdf annotations on different OS which do not support the Acrobat Reader X.

Maybe introducing a variant would be a feasible solution until popplers pdf annotation support becomes stable?

Thank your for keeping up the excellent work on macports!

#47054 Okular can not open more than one document nicos@… defect Normal ports

Reported by tryingkaspersky@…, 8 weeks ago.

Description

This machine is running OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

Okular 4.14.3_0, 20.3 as reported by the application itself, will crash If I attempt to open more than one document, either with "open new document in tabs" option on or not. Only one document works fine.

Okular 19.3 seems to open multiple documents normally under Ubuntu.
