#43950 openjpeg build fails on 10.4 with missing symbols macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by nad@…, 9 months ago.

Description

Upgrading openjeg (2.0.0_1 < 2.1.0_0) fails on my 10.4.11 PPC system. On 10.4, the port depends on the apple-gcc42 compiler port. After a quick look, I'm not sure what is going on but one thing looks rather odd: it appears that ld may be incorrectly looking for MacPorts-installed library using the SDK root prefix (note, this installation uses a --prefix of /macports rather than /opt/local). I wonder whether the addition of -isystem in r115051 is causing problems.

:info:build /usr/bin/ld: warning can't open dynamic library: /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.4u.sdk/macports/lib/liblzma.5.dylib referenced from: /macports/lib/libtiff.dylib (checking for undefined symbols may b

:info:build _jpeg_CreateDecompress referenced from libtiff expected to be defined in /macports/lib/libjpeg.9.dylib
...

For example, those first two symbols do appear to exist in the MacPorts-installed libjpeg:

000011ac T _jpeg_CreateCompress
0000d2e8 T _jpeg_CreateDecompress

#25359 openjpeg build fails when libtool port is active mcalhoun@… defect Normal ports

Reported by lkraider+ports@…, 5 years ago.

Description

openjpeg Makefile uses the '-o' option for libtool without setting a mode, which only works with the system provided libtool, not with the port installed one (see attached log).

I bumped into this when trying to install py26-ipython on Snow Leopard, with a fresh install of MacPorts 1.9.1 and the build failed on the openjpeg port. Workaround was to deactivate libtool port, install openjpeg, and resume installing ipython.

#31884 openjpeg: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libpng12.0.dylib mcalhoun@… defect Normal ports

Reported by andrew.c.stewart@…, 3 years ago.

Description

Thought an error I was getting with javacv was a javacv problem but I tried to do a simple

#include <opencv2/core/core.hpp>

I got a very similar error to the one I got with javacv... something about 'image not found'.

dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libpng12.0.dylib

Any idea what this is about?

#43604 openjpeg: update to 2.1.0 mcalhoun@… update Normal ports

Reported by ryandesign@…, 10 months ago.

Please update openjpeg to version 2.1.0.

Note that livecheck doesn't find this version because hosting has changed from googlecode to sourceforge.

I am hoping that 2.1.0 will contain a libopenjp2.pc pkg-config file (2.0.0 does not); this file would help me get jpeg-2000 support working in imagemagick again (#43599)

Reported by from-macports.org@…, 3 years ago.

Description

My /Developer partition is on another drive. Therefore, the path to the drive is /Volumes/750gb HDD/Developer.

When compiling openldap (gnupg requires this) it fails due to a:

:info:build Makefile:402: *** multiple target patterns. Stop.

error. This appears to be due to a path problem in the library makefiles. Example excerpt from the Makefile:

assert.lo: ../../include/portable.h
assert.lo: assert.c
assert.lo: ../../include/ldap_cdefs.h
assert.lo: ../../include/ac/fdset.h
assert.lo: ../../include/ac/assert.h

When you combine the lines:

assert.lo: /Volumes/750gb\HDD/Developer/usr/llvm-gcc-4.2/bin/../lib/gcc/i686-apple-darwin10/4.2.1/include/stddef.h

It compiles normally.

Other makes in libraries seem to have this as well.

#21945 OpenLDAP +universal can't find cyrus-sasl2 in configure landonf@… defect Normal ports

Reported by domiman@…, 5 years ago.

Description

While building Krusader with all its dependancies I found that openldap +universal can't find cyrus-sasl2 during configure. I guess the problem is that Cyrus-sasl2 cannot be built +universal. Cyrus-sasl2 is present and active with +kerberos

#35137 openldap: update to 2.4.31 landonf@… update Normal ports

Reported by sarnesjo@…, 3 years ago.

Description

MacPorts 2.1.1 contains openldap 2.4.21. This version appears to be incompatible with cyrus-sasl2 2.1.25, and fails to run with the following error message, among others, when run with -d 1 or higher:

slap_sasl_init: auxprop add plugin failed

Updating to openldap 2.4.31 fixes this problem. Please see the attached patch.

#37496 openmotif @2.3.4_0 build fails due to automake 1.13.1 ryandesign@… defect Normal ports

Reported by md14-macports@…, 2 years ago.

Description

The openmotif build broke due to changes in automake 1.13.1.

$ sudo port -vs install openmotif

--->  Configuring openmotif
configure.ac:39: error: 'AM_PROG_CC_STDC': this macro is obsolete.
You should simply use the 'AC_PROG_CC' macro instead.
Also, your code should no longer depend upon 'am_cv_prog_cc_stdc',

From the automake 1.13.1 changelog:

  - Use of the obsolete macros AM_CONFIG_HEADER or AM_PROG_CC_STDC now
causes a clear and helpful error message, instead of obscure ones
    (issue introduced in Automake 1.13).

The attached patch appears to fix the problem.

#38011 Openmotif 2.3.4_1 fails to build on Mac 10.8.2 macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by ozisik@…, 2 years ago.

The first error was that clang could not find "wmluiltok.o". Therefore, I manually added the correct address for it.

The new error is as follows when I try to run the clang command from shell:

I am not sure what are the undefined symbols for architecture x86_64 are. Any ideas?

#19904 openmotif apps fail to run on 10.4.11 macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by ryusuke.numata@…, 6 years ago.

Description

I get the following error message when I run any openmotif apps on 10.4.11.

Error: attempt to add non-widget child "dsm" to parent "*" which supports only widgets

I've tried xdvi in tex/pTex, and some of demo programs included in openmotif in /opt/local/share/Xm/. The same problem for xpdf is also reported in #19383.

The problem is resolved for Leopard in #18181, but the solution is not applicable to 10.4.11.

#18181 openmotif apps (xpdf, grace) fail to run in Leopard ricci@… defect Normal ports

Reported by macosx12345@…, 6 years ago.

Description

This is a similar problem to #18114.

I'm trying to run xpdf on a fresh install of Mac OS X 10.5 with Xquartz 2.3.2 and a fresh install of MacPorts 1.7.0.

xpdf builds fine, but when I try to run it I get the following error message:

Warning: Widget must be a VendorShell.
Error: attempt to add non-widget child "dsm" to parent "xpdf" which supports only widgets

The same problem happens on another system where xpdf @3.02_2 built several month ago is running fine but a new build of xpdf @3.02_4 fails with the same error message.

This message might be caused by problems with openmotif (see http://www.faqs.org/faqs/motif-faq/part9/section-29.html, but here there is seemingly no problem of library order on the link command line).

#6833 openmotif can't be build macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by bugzilla.20.mahajivana@…, 9 years ago.

Description

I recently started using DarwinPorts and I admit I haven't read all threads here yet (only last 4 months, sorry it's really a lot to read). The problem I encountered trying to build openmotif isn't actually limited to openmotif alone. I got messages like "Error: Target com.apple.build returned: shell command "cd "/ " && LANG=C make all" returned error 2" quite often. I tried reinstalling XCode, updated it to 2.2.1 as soon as the update was released, I even tried it on a freshly installed system, still I get the same result. Actually "error 2" isn't much of an information, especially since I haven't found anything on it so far in darwinports-documentation or this mailing list. So I'm stuck. Could someone please point me the direction what to do /where to find help?

(MacOS 10.4.4, darwinports synched and updated, I'm using -f since it didn't work without it either and I found out that -f helps 50 % of the time, don't know why the manual discourages one from using it.)

$ sudo port -f install openmotif Password: ---> Building openmotif with target all Error: Target com.apple.build returned: shell command "cd "/opt/local/var/db/dports/build/_opt_local_var_db_dports_sources_rsync.rsync.darwinports.org_dpupdate_dports_x11_openMotif/work/openmotif-2.3.0" && LANG=C make all" returned error 2 Command output: DropDown.c:2632: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2633: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2634: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2635: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2636: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2637: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2638: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2639: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2640: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2641: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored DropDown.c:2642: warning: alias definitions not supported in Mach-O; ignored

#3197 OpenMotif does not build if LANG=en_US.UTF-8 jkh@… defect Normal ports

Reported by master@…, 10 years ago.

Description

Dear Jordan, openmotif generates errors at build time if LANG is not among languages known to it. Workaround - set LANG temporary to C (as it is done in FreeBSD ports).

Just add to Portfile

build.env LANG=C

Sincerely, Michail

#37467 openmotif: error: possibly undefined macro: AM_CONFIG_HEADER macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Full version: openmotif-2.3.4_0.darwin_9.ppc.

#364 openMotif needs to have its libtool patched to build shared libs correctly jkh@… defect Normal ports

Reported by drm@…, 12 years ago.

Description

This bug should be assigned to jkh@…, but he doesn't have a bugzilla account.

A number of gnu libtool-based packages have trouble in 10.2; they build their shared libs without correct versioning. The symptom is the following error message during linking:

../../libtool: test: too many arguments

and this is present in the openMotif port.

The problem and its cure are described in the referenced URL.

I can propose a fix for you, but it's a bit tricky to integrate it with your existing Portfile. The patches I know are patches to configure and ltmain.sh, applied *before* ./configure is run. On the other hand, you are modifying libtool after it is generated by ./configure, and I believe that the patch I'll supply you with already implements that modification. So the first line of your pre-build command should probably be omitted.

I will attach a patch which is a modification of the Fink patch: I've just cut out the part that is relevant to this problem and given it to you. I haven't yet tried to integrate with your Portfile or test.

#14313 openmotif's (very different) periodic command overrides OS X ricci@… defect Normal ports

Reported by bcbarnes@…, 7 years ago.

Description

as per http://lists.macosforge.org/pipermail/macports-users/2008-February/008960.html and replies,

openmotif install /opt/local/bin/periodic which is very different from /usr/sbin/periodic . Due to the default macports $PATH, this command becomes the system wide default. The openmotif command should possibly be renamed; maybe upstream, maybe by macports?

I'm just a user who wants normal system functionality ;)

note, openmotif currently has nomaintainer. http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/browser/trunk/dports/x11/openMotif/Portfile

#15587 openmpi-1.2.6 failed to execute -- orted not found mww@… defect Normal ports

Reported by fuku@…, 7 years ago.

Description

I installed openmpi @1.2.6_0+g95 using port command. Installation was successful. It works for single machine but it does not work for multiple machines. I am using the ssh connection through tcp/ip network. The error message said that

bash: line 1: orted: command not found

It seems that "orted" command was called from openmpirun, but openmpirun could not find.

The followings are the examples that I tested.

host01.example.com

# Multiple machine case
host01 $ openmpirun -np 2 -host host01,host02 echo `hostname`

#38065 openmpi @1.6.3_0+gcc47+valgrind -- header locations not self-consistent mww@… defect Normal ports

Reported by beany_kelly@…, 2 years ago.

Description

I have a Mountain Lion system (10.8.2) with an up-to-date MacPorts installation. I've installed OpenMPI as above (+gcc47 +valgrind), but I'm having trouble compiling parallel code with it, because the headers aren't where the system expects. Here's a sample error from the compiler:

/opt/local/include/mpi.h:2087:41: fatal error: openmpi/ompi/mpi/cxx/mpicxx.h: No such file or directory

The problem is that apart from mpi.h itself, all the headers are buried deep down, one layer feeper than mpi.h indicates. For instance, mpicxx.h is *actually* in (relative to /opt/local/include):

openmpi/openmpi/ompi/mpi/cxx/mpicxx.h

I don't know why so much nesting is needed to begin with, but it looks like the path on line 2087 of mpi.h is out by one "openmpi/".

I can fix this path by hand, of course, but then the same error crops up again with another path ...

I've tried a clean port uninstall and new installation, but no change.

#38319 openmpi @1.6.4 +gcc45 non-standard names for executables mww@… enhancement Low ports

Reported by dstrubbe@…, 2 years ago.

Description

The standard names for executables from OpenMPI are mpif90, mpif77, mpicc, mpirun, mpiexec. However, the ones provided by the openmpi port are all prefixed with "open", i.e. openmpif90 etc. I suggest this should be made clear somewhere in the port description, or alternately use the standard names (maybe the names were chosen to avoid conflict with mpich). I only discovered the actual names by reading through some tickets about this port. For example, the 'variants' output lists specifically the standard names, which are NOT the ones created by the port.

openmpi has the variants:
   g95: build mpif77 and mpif90 using g95
     * conflicts with gcc43 gcc44 gcc45 gcc46 gcc47
   gcc43: build mpif77 and mpif90 using gcc43

#39438 openmpi @1.7.1 +threads +gcc47 creates code that hangs mww@… defect Normal ports

Reported by hans.ekkehard.plesser@…, 21 months ago.

Description

The attached MPI hello world program will hang on MPI_Init_thread() when compiled with openmpicc from openmpi @1.7.1 +threads +gcc47 on OSX 10.8.4 and invoked with openmpirun on more than one process.

Everything works fine if I do one of the following:

  • use openmpi @1.6.4 +threads +gcc47
  • replace MPI_THREAD_SERIALIZED by MPI_THREAD_SINGLE, which is equivalent to calling MPI_Init().

The actual compiler invocation and compiler version are

[Macintosh:~/tmp/hw] hep% openmpicc -o hw_mpi hw_mpi.c --showme
/usr/bin/clang -o hw_mpi hw_mpi.c -I/opt/local/include/openmpi -L/opt/local/lib -lmpi

[Macintosh:~/tmp/hw] hep% /usr/bin/clang --version
Apple clang version 4.1 (tags/Apple/clang-421.11.66) (based on LLVM 3.1svn)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin12.4.0
Thread model: posix

I realized that this is most likely an OpenMPI problem and will report it there, too, but I wonder if it makes sense to have 1.7.1 as default on MacPorts given this problem.

#42823 openmpi-default missing declared dependency on gnutar; system gnutar does not exit macports-tickets@… defect Normal ports

Reported by andrewhw@…, 12 months ago.

Description

openmpi-default fails in its compilation due to an error on /usr/bin/gnutar being not found.

The gnutar utility is not installed in /usr/bin at all. Installing the gnutar port and placing a symlink in /usr/bin pointing to /opt/local/bin/gnutar allows the port to be built.

Ideally, the port should either use the non-gnu tar, or use the version of gnutar from the port install, with the path to it updated accordingly in the configuration.

#39826 openmpi does not produce working Fortran MPI2 program mww@… defect Normal ports

Reported by dstrubbe@…, 20 months ago.

Description

MPI2 support in the openmpi port does not seem to be working. I show below a simple test case using MPI_IN_PLACE for MPI_Allreduce, which fails for all numbers of processors I tried (1, 2, 3, 4; including running it without openmpiexec), and for various installations of openmpi which I tried ( 1.6.2_0+gcc45, 1.7.1_0+g95, and openmpi @1.7.1_0+gcc47). But it does work fine with mpich. I also obtained correct output for OpenMPI 1.4 on a Linux machine with Intel or GNU compilers.

Incorrect:

$ openmpif90 test.f90
$ openmpirun -n 3 ./a.out
 before, node 0 : 1
 before, node 1 : 1
 before, node 2 : 1
 after, node 0 : 0
 after, node 1 : 0
 after, node 2 : 0

Correct, with mpich @3.0.4_0+gcc47:

$mpif90 test.f90

#27247 openmpi +gcc45 won't build in Mac OS X 10.5.8 mww@… defect Normal ports

Reported by ksnelgrove@…, 4 years ago.

Description

I've been trying to build openmpi using macports. The command:

% sudo port install openmpi +gcc45

Works fine on another machine with Mac OS X 10.6.4 but fails with 10.5.8 (Xcode 3.1.4). I've tried this on two separate machines with 10.5.8 with the same result and looked through most of the newer tickets without success.

The log (attached) shows the build does go very far and there are a number of warnings and errors in the configuration log. I'm not experienced enough to know how to fix these. Some highlights:

  1. --with-xgrid not recognized
  2. why does build proceed with gcc-4.0 when gcc45 is an install prerequisite?
  3. errors for a number of missing includes: vtf3.h BPatch.h f2c.h jvmti.h papi.h libcpc.h malloc.h ctool/ctool.h
  4. warnings with:
    • fno-strict-aliasing added to CFLAGS
    • finline-functions added to CXXFLAGS
    • fvisibility=hidden added to CFLAGS

The build proceeds to:

:info:build CCLD libopen-pal.la
:info:build CCLD libopen-pal-lt.la
:info:build ar: /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_science_openmpi/work/build/opal/e

ca/base/.libs/libmca_base.a: Resource temporarily unavailable
:info:build make[2]: *** [libopen-pal.la] Error 1

I've tried to build with the default: openmpi +gcc44 but get a similar errors

#32450 openmpi: mpif90 doesn't work mww@… defect Normal ports

Reported by totofg@…, 3 years ago.

Description

When I run mpif90, I have the message: Unfortunately, this installation of Open MPI was not compiled with Fortran 90 support. As such, the mpif90 compiler is non-functional.

So I would like to install openmpi but there are errors

I send the log file
