#1023 closed defect (fixed)

User Guide isn't consistent about $CVSROOT wrt cvs commands

Reported by: bugzilla.opendarwin.org@… Owned by: wbb4@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: guide Version: 1.0
Keywords: Cc:

Description

http://www.opendarwin.org/projects/darwinports/guide/ch01s03.html tells the user to explicitly override $CVSROOT with the -d global option to cvs while the instructions at http://www.opendarwin.org/projects/darwinports/guide/ch01s04.html require $CVSROOT to be set.

we should probably be explicit in all cvs example commands in the doc. at the least, we need to be consistent.

I have added this to my list of changes to make in my overhaul of the Guide. I should be finished with it this weekend.

This has been fixed in the Guide that's on the website (has been for a while, actually) ... I will close this bug once the changes go into cvs (in the next couple of days).

huh? as of right now, i still see a difference in the cvs instructions.

from http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/docs/ch01s03.html % cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.opendarwin.org:/Volumes/src/cvs/od co -P darwinports

from http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/docs/ch01s04.html % cvs -z3 update -dP

am i missing something?
