dbus is currently at version 0.93--a precursor to 1.0, however the dbus port is at version 0.6.1.
Recently many of the language bindings that were included in the dbus package were split off into seperate packages, leading to the need to port the dbus-glib language bindings for most GTK/GNOME applications that rely on dbus to work.
dbus 0.93 builds on MacPorts but is incapable of providing a working system bus, causing dbus-glib builds to fail.
