It does not appear that cku209.zip exists at any of the listed locations. Also, version cku211.zip appears to be available from Columbia.edu however the ftp appears to be down.

I'm able to fetch cku209.tar.gz with no problems.

I ran into this "problem" too; turns out that I was blocking FTP at the firewall, and it's that FTP fetch from kermit.columbia.edu that's critical.

I suspect that those of us installing kermit are slightly more likely to be doing so in some desperate network circumstance that needs a serial port - to, say, configure a firewall...

Hopefully this helps the next person.

I got the same error but I couldn't resolve it with suggested steps. Any other ideas? ​level e answers
